I was planning on doing some home recording, so i need some info on recording software and drum machines(software )...

which software would you recommend for multi-track recording. I came across this thing called ProTools 7.1, and i heard that was the best, but it looked really complicated. What do u suggest?

Also, and more importantly, do u know any good software to lay a drum track? Something I can program for varied time signatures, and that has a good sound quality.

Any help would be appreciated...

Cheers.

I'm using Sony's Acid Music Studio for programming.

They have several loop CDs for drums and other instruments (I'm using Discrete Drums, Volume 1). Just paint or pencil in your drum patterns and voila.

They also have other high-end software for doing things in 5.1 surround sound (DVD-Audio, etc.).

I use Adobe Audition, its a combination of Cubase and Cool Edit Pro.
I tried Cubase but really I get confused with it, but when I opened Adobe Audition, everything looked perfect and clear.
Unfortunatelly I do not know any software for drums as far.
Cheers
