recording with impulses

Would you guys record a session using impules or do you insist on miking your cab?

I don't see why not. Guitar hacks posts of his actual mic'd cab and then the impulse being used on the same settings had so little difference that the benefit of choice you get when using impulses clearly is >

I was about to ask the same question .... is the diference betwen the impulse and current miced cab really big? on what aspects of the sound?

Talking about impulses, I haven't found yet any good tone using impulses.
Am, I doing anything wrong?
I track raw distorted signal from the preamp's output or PodXt without cab simulation into Cubase.
Then load Voxengo Pristine as Insert, and load GuitarHacks impulses into it.
It sounds quite well but not as well as many people in this forum.
I get a better sound with PodXt's speaker simulations.

Do I have to do anything else in voxengo?

Well you might try leaving the cab simulation on on the pod, cuz to me it sounds better that way (though you may have to tweak your pod settings a bit)

ok, sorry to sound like a noob but impulses are the dry signal from the guitar and you can add a plug in to shape your tone and amp emulation?

no..it's a little wave file that used with the right plugin emulates a real cab.
