I need some sort of di box with speaker simulation to put between the amp and cab for live gigs (in ear monitoring).

Tips, recommendations?
Not too expensive would be nice

to be more serious i heard some guy using a sans amp with a palmer thing (don´t know which) and he was very satisfied.

Funnily enough I remember reading the same thing before I got mine! It's certainly not the quietest box in the world, but it sounds alright and is cheap as fuck!

Blind test.

Includes:
Engl Preamp 530 / Recording Out
Tube Amp Doctor F.A.N.T.A.
Palmer PDI-09
Hughes & Kettner Red Box Pro
Hughes & Kettner Red Box Classic
Behringer GI100 Ultra-G

in that coparison I liked the pdi09 best, followed closely by the Behringer.

the redbox classic in 4x12 mode was alright, the Engl530 and redbox pro were unlistenable

Are you surprised about your rating? Well, I was indeed surprised, when I tested my "dream device" the first time. Brand names, "fame" and a lot of comments on internet pages can easily set expectations about certain models, which might not at all match your own judgement! ;-)

You better go to the next page and listen to the recordings I made of all the speaker simulators using the various basic samples.

go on, tell me my ears suck...
