I'm not saying you'll find some samples of their work here, in a completely different site that is totally unaffiliated with all things progpower or anything, but you might just see how excited I am..

Ignore the completely lame probability that it's livejournal. And stuff. Also, the samples I'm not saying you'll find there are definitely more of their folkier stuff, and not at all on the mark of their newest album: The Scythe

Oh, look, The Scythe is out of stock and back ordered due to sellouts ALL OVER. HMM.

Or maybe it's A little more available at second glance. Lucky you :heh:

Dude, it will be released here in a month for half that price. PPUSA is a year away. I'm ecstatic that they're playing too, but I think it's okay to wait 30 more days.

Lol, but it's not the LIMITED EDITION VERSION DAMMIT! Anyway, the 2 links for buying are just for anyone who really would like a copy. US release, as Magius said, is up and comming.

Alas, with ship times from Italy to the USA, I'll probably be receiving my copy from the band about the same time it hits the "shelves" in the US. But thats cool. As was mentioned. DEVOTED fanbase. :D

Also, I wouldn't be the EK Pimp if I didn't do shit like this. ;)

I'm a huge fan of Elvenking and cannot wait for this show. I've been giving Glenn informal flack for the lack of folkmetal at the fest, and now we have it.

AS for The Scythe, sure there are some non-folky songs, but there are also some folky tunes. Its a really good album. As for their single 'divided heart', I don't know how I feel about it. At first I liked it, then I didn't, and now I just get the chorus in my head quite regularly so I think maybe I like it?

Yeah. I can see what there is to get excited about. There's a band called Tempest from somewhere in the Midwest that plays Celtic/Folk metal. I love their albums and they were killer in concert. Elvenking has a bit of that flavor to it. It's dynamic, earthy, infectious, well-recorded music.

You've made a believer out of me, Nailz.

Question........................

I have heard some of this in the past and was turned off by the harsh vox parts. I actually very muched liked what I heard that had the clean vox. Now I am talking about what seems like 3-4 years ago. I am interested in what glen said about their new Nocurnal Rights sound. So here is the question......Have they dropped the harsh vox? Question # 2.................How much of the harsh vox do the use in older material? I have been able to deal with the harsh vox in After Forever where at one time I wanted nothing to do with it.

There is very little Harsh Vox in most of their songs. The man who did it, Jarpen, left after he recorded The Winter Wake. I'm not sure about the Scythe, but it's MAINLY clean vocals now. I can't speak for the Scythe, since I have not heard it (no copy yet and not downloading it dammit!) .. so there you have that. Here's a better taste of what can be found on the new CD.. I fucking LOVE this song, Cheiron.. it's catchy as hell.

Raintime are opening for Elvenking here in Pordenone on Halloween.

Yes, both Raintime AND Elvenking are from this area. We all live within a 30 mile radius of each other. It's really nice to live here,.

I prefer Raintime, though.

Heh. Another victim has reached the slippery slope of harsh vox. Look upon your doom, as it's name is After Forever!

Seriously though, I gave a friend of mine "Wyrd" for her birthday a year ago. She's not a fan of growls, although she's now on the slope too, and commented on them, so I listened to the entire CD and loosely counted them. There are about three of eleven songs on the CD that have growls, and there's only a few lines of growls in the songs that have them.

"Heathenreel" and "The Winter Wake" certainly have more than "Wyrd." My first impression is that "The Schyth" has very few, but I've only heared a couple of tracks.

BTW, if you didn't catch them there are some growls on the song "Cuts Like a Knife" from Nocturnal Rites' "Grand Illusion" album.

We had the pleasure of touring with them a few years back. Very nice guys and delivered a great live show.
I too am anxious to see how they have grown in these past years. Congrats to the "Elvenpigs" (they know
what this means)....See you soon guys!

How did I know you would say that?

Thanks for the info. I will proceed with my listens based on this.

I did not notice and will have to go back. I am findind that I dont mind (harsh vox) so much if it seems to have a point. I don't know ther name of the song but I think it is on Heathenreel that is an outstanding beautiful song.....very melodic for about 5-6 minutes and then at the very end of the song for no apparent reason.......Grrrahhh Grrahhhhhh Grraaaahhhh. It just did not seem needed. The growls on After forevers invisible circle fit for me.To be honest, I would like it better without it but it does fit. The few growls on Areyons Human Equation fit for me. I will give these boys another shot now that I am on that slope you speek of.

Thanks man!

Please note that Kleid, who did vox on Wyrd, is no longer with the band, and it is the only album he has performed on. Damnagoras is back on vocal duty for all other releases.

You are correct sir. And this is one of the best songs on that album. I am in trouble as that slope is getting slicker.

Do you guys hang out with Rhapsody?

This is true, however there seem to be more growls in The Scythe than on other EK albums...which is great for me because I really dig the juxtaposition of growls & clean vox, and EK does it very well.

nailz, you still haven't gotten your copy yet? Mine arrived last night from lasercd.com :) I know I know, it's not a signed digi :p

Do you guys hang out with Rhapsody?

LOL no, I think Rhapsody are from Trieste and don't play anything fewer than huge festival crowds. We're a little lower on the pecking order. Rhapsody tend to be a little full of themselves sometimes. I'll leave it at that.

It's kinda funny. Mention Rhapsody around here and people roll their eyes,.

When I first got to Italy, I asked them about Rhapsody and everyone gave me the same response,.

I've never met them, however, so I cannot say first hand.
