Releases 2009!

Hah, well Black Cascade deserved a second mentioning :p

I couldn't get into Isis' stuff at all. But the Devin album was pretty great, I think it will only get better with time.

If you guys like your death metal of the true and tasty variety, new albums from Burning Human and God Dethroned are excellent.

I am hoping that Shining will finally put their new album out this year. I know that there are a couple of new tracks on their myspace, but I am going to treat the new release as I treat my favourite bands. Meaning I will buy the album and I want my first listen to be my very true first listen of anything. V - Halmstad was such an amazing and classic release that I am really anticipating the new one.

According to Warrel Dane's Twitter page (lol) the new Nevermore album is called "The Obsidian Conspiracy" and they're still writing it. So there's no way that it's coming out this year. Will check for confirmation on this.

Also Mr. Creator, sorry about nto answering your previous question brah. The new CKY is decent but overall it's kinda bland and boring. The World Under Blood CD will smoke it.

Yeah no prob man, I have since checked it out, like you said its quite bland there are a few decent tracks though, kills theirs last album in my opinion but overall its mehhhh. I had some hope for the band, they had put out a few pretty good albums previously. I heard World Under Blood a while ago does sound pretty great, hopefully they put some shit out soon.

i looked around and couldn't find a leak of it, even though i clearly saw people listening on last.fm - like you, you dirty rat bastard.

i'll check again tonight.

Definitely liking the new Amorphis CD (as was obvious with my drunken 4am post). It's not as heavy as their previous two. It's got a lot of proggy leads and folky elements. Tons of twangy solos, pretty psychedelic (spelling?) at times. Overall everything I had hoped for. If you liked Eclipse and Silent Waters this is DEFINITELY going to be up there for 09.

As for the God Dethroned I liked Lair of the White Worm and The Toxic Touch better than Passiondale, but none of their recent stuff really has kept my attention like their older discs do. The new Old Man's Child is surprisingly fucking wicked. I'm diggin it a lot.

Let's see I haven't posted anything substantial in a while. Since this is a Skyfire forum, I might as well let it be known that Profugus Mortis changed their name to Blackguard, and released an album this year entitled "Profugus Mortis" (go figure lol). It's basically PM's "Another Round EP" with a few more songs, but it's siiick so it's worth checking out. Dawn of Tears came out with a 2nd CD "Dark Chamber Litanies" available for free download at their website. So very good, just like their first album "Descent". If you've never heard them they are melodic death with symphonic black elements with hooks that remind me of the melodies that skyfire/illnath/dissection would have made had they all orgied and had some sort of bastard riff system. Huh.

I'm just gonna go ahead and say to all of you in this post that while it's totally cool to write about your downloaded music and what you think of it (I download too, as you know, and I am totally 100% pro downloading), for legal reasons I'm not gonna let you guys give directions on how to download music illegally. Sry. Most of you probably know how to do it by now and if you don't well... lol... learn2internetz. ;)

That said, I think it's pretty well known that Profugus Mortis = Blackguard now haha. They're on both Paganfest and Summer Slaughter. I haven't actually gotten around to hearing their new CD but I'll check it out. Their guitarist Terry is a bud of mine and what I have heard on their myspace is pretty cool. Reminds me of Ensiferum a bit.

those horrible pirates, i don't even want to think about them and their wretched pirating acts

oooo these guys have come a long way since The Karelian Isthmus. i need to check out more doom while i'm grabbin this
