Remember Katagory V? We're back (sort of), and we need your help!

Hey, there!

As Orbweaver mentioned, we have added some new perks to the page, including autographed drum heads, copies of the band's previous releases, and t-shirts from the releases of the two previous albums. Then there's the perk that received a "good lord." Only Dustin could come up with that one! Would you like to know what it is? Go to the page to find out!

We really appreciate the contributions made thus far, be they financially or by telling others about the campaign. However, we have a very long way to go before we can announce that this album will finally see the light of day. I hate to make this sound like, as Dustin puts it, a PBS pledge drive, but we really could use everyone's help here. Any feedback regarding the campaign or the new tunes is welcome. Dustin and I will keep checking in. In the meantime, enjoy the rest of the holiday weekend!

Stay metal. Never rust.

LOL @ The WTF perk..... I won't ruin it, go check it out.
There is/was a more of a WTF perk from Bumblefoot for the Guitar Gods Tour. THANKFULLY nobody claimed it! :heh: This one is nowhere near as bad...

Hi, TDD!

To answer your question, we really don't have a proper outlet to release this material digitally. It's something that's very hard to monitor. For every person who pays for a downloaded song, there are at least five more who obtain it illegally. This is why we really want to get the physical product released first. It's inevitable in this day and age that most people are just going to steal the music they want, so we just want a chance to come as close to breaking even on this release as possible before sales come to a complete halt.

In the body of our campaign page, we go into a bit more detail concerning this issue. We figure that if you pledge $15, you'll get a physical copy of the music with which you can do as you choose. If you want to get some of your money back, you can rip the content to your computer and then sell the CD to your nearest used CD store or through on online market. Better yet, you can give the CD to another potential fan and help to spread the word a little further. That's the kind of sharing that we can get behind, as opposed to file-sharing.

In short, I hope that the lack of a digital format doesn't turn you off from contributing, but I understand that the way most people experience music has changed over the years. Thank you very much for your feedback.

That's one of the greatest perks yet! I damn near soiled myself! I expect someone will get down on that. I actually considered it, but took the grail. Will spread the campaign around metal supporters I know in the central Arkansas ring. 1st K done.

All thanks to you, Charles! That is mighty outstanding of you! You really made good on your word. I sure hope you'll be in Atlanta this year, because I owe you tremendously for your generosity. That said, I hope that nobody is crazy enough to pay for Dustin's beard. That old chin rug is a legend in these parts!

Hey, just helping out a good project and good guys where/when I can, like everybody else. Gonna try double to make PP this year (I couldn't make it last year). If I see you, cold ones are on me!

Since none else has said it,

MANGINA!

:heh:

Geeze... pull a parlor trick for a few years in a row that both offends AND arouses men & women alike, and it follows your everywhere. :saint:

I had to think about it, and I don't think I have unleashed the mangina in 5 years! If I make it to the ATL this year, MAYBE...just maybe, I might let that nasty bush out.

Does anyone still have a picture of that nasty beast???

Now that Jay Dub has me feeling all nostalgic, I was reading through some of Al's posts, just reflecting on when I brought him in to the band to sing back in 2008, and if I recall correctly, I congratulated him over the phone on getting the slot and then (I may be paraphrasing here) asked, "are you SURE you want to be the front man for the 'Charlie Brown' band of the prog/power scene?"

He laughed and said "well, it could be worse, I could be singing for David Shankle instead right now, so... hell yeah!"

Epic. love you Albie :kickass:

Aw! I'm getting misty-eyed over here! Did you know that Dave Shankle was in Manowar? Mind-blowing, right?

I seem to remember a certain German band being horrified at Mangina....
And I MIGHT have a pic of that somewhere.......Going to require archeology, but I'll find it! :Smokedev:

And I couldn't agree with Al's comment more! :saint:

I'd have to dig through some pictures but I think I have some from the Chicago Power Fest you guys played at Dustin. Careful for what you wish for cause I have a scanner and you might see these before the nights over haha.

Alright, folks!

We've now reached the halfway point of the campaign. With 30 days left, we've received some outstanding contributions (some of which are from some of the awesome attendees of this festival! Thank you so very much!). However, as of this post, we have yet to break 32% of our goal.

If any of you have read Dustin's article (you can find the link to it two posts above this one), you should have a better understanding of why we're taking this route to get this album released. If you're not too keen on the idea of crowdfunding, perhaps this article will give you a little more of the artist's perspective on the situation. We're not exactly trying to fund a cure for cancer, but we're not exactly making potato salad, either.

We really appreciate all of the help we've been given so far, and we hope that you initial investors can reap the rewards of your contributions.

Stay metal. Never rust.
