Remember Tomorrow

Good thing Bruce Dickinson didn't sing on the original then.

Yeah, Paul Di'anno sang on their self titled release and on Killers. Bruce joined the band in 1982 for the release of their third album, The Number of the Beast.

maiden rule. and theres nothing wrong with all the albums sounding the same...

thats like saying all the songs on 1 album sound the same, so thats bad. who cares? its a good style, and im glad they havent deviated from it much.

having said that, dance of death is probably their worst album yet. some of the lyrics are awful, and the single sucks.

The first Maiden album truly is required listening, and "Remember Tomorrow" is one of the standout tracks (not as sweet as "Phantom of the Opera" though). As good as the band was, I drew the line after Powerslave.

BTW, a "required listening" thread would be cool to see if we can come to some sort of consensus on fucking essential and classic metal.

You obviously haven't heard DANCE OF DEATH... Incredible album with some songs that sound unlike anything they've ever done ("Paschendale," for instance). Besides, why is it that people expect bands to jump through flaming hoops every time they release an album in order for them to be considered great? Just because a band doesn't reinvent their sound every two years doesn't mean they're not a great band...
Yes 'Dance of Death' is quite different and I like it a lot. Not listened to it too much yet, but enough to say it is a very worthy Maiden album.

Anyone saying Iron Maiden only have one style should listen to "Strange world" from their debut. Sad though that a band that's been arround for so long never did anything better than their debut!

Some would argue that Opeth never bettered their debut. I'm starting to identify with that. Ever since i started listening to Swano's music, Opeth doesnt appeal to me that much (asside form Orchid)

I can't believe how unfamiliar with Iron Maiden some people in this thread are.

Maybe it's just me, but I think they are THE quintessential metal band. The fathers of melodic metal. I don't even think there would be an Opeth if there wasn't an Iron Maiden.

P.S. Dance of death kicks ass

Just because I don't like them doesn't mean I'm unfamiliar with them. I'm aware of their influence, this doesn't mean I have to like their music.

finally downloaded and listened to the Maiden version of the song - GREAT song (only song I heard from Maiden for it was the song that Opeth got me into.)

I don't know, I think I like Opeth's version better....but, then again I'm biased for I heard that version first and am used to Opeth's vocals/style, so...whatever. All in all, good song.

Does Anthrax and Metallica have a version? I could have sworn they shwed up on Kazaa when I looked up Remember Tomorrow.
