Rhapsody/Voyager NA tour

I see these sorts of comments every now and again and it just makes me facepalm. You do realize that every day a band isn't playing a date on tour is a day the band is losing money right?

I think he meant sadistic in the "it's not coming near my area, and I really want to see this band, so you're making me suffer" way....

I'm mildly surprised - but incredibly stoked - to see a San Diego date for this tour. We get skipped over a lot considering bands will usually play both OC and LA, but holy shit, I'm pumped to see Voyager again!

I figured it wouldn't hit Missouri/Iowa/Kansas. I've come to expect it, and appreciate the shows that are (COC, Cannibal Corpse, Overkill, Sabaton)

I'd have to imagine he's referring to the routing, which is fucking stupid. I guess that's how it goes when you're booking shows, and you're at the mercy of the clubs, but fuck. Portland to San Diego and then BACK to LA? Colorado to Seattle? In two days? That's not terrible but why not book a show in SF or Salt Lake City?

Portland to San Diego and then BACK to LA?
There are two off-days in there, I wouldn't be surprised to see some combination of San Francisco, Las Vegas, or Hollywood fill up one or both of those days...unless this is the final routing with no dates to be added?

A lot of times, a tour is announced without all dates filled... Sometimes they can't close all shows before the announcement. It wouldn't surprise me if that was the case...

UGH I want to go to this but the NYC date is like the day when I get back from MDF. Hate to pass on this but it looks like I'll have to.

Try living in Birmingham. We get our choice of Bret Michaels, Skynrd, and country acts. I'm going to have to look at my schedule and see what I have a realistic shot of attending. I've got a couple of VIP patients coming due around then, so my options are chancy.

That doesn't surprise me considering MPA is/was the promoter for most these type shows. I still feel AZ can draw solid crowds with better local promotion and booking. Certainly not any worse than some of the smaller cities a lot of these tours seem to be hitting.

Solid, maybe, but not the size of most of these bands expectations anymore. If Blind Guardian can't sell out the Marquee, there's no way anyone is going to pay SyX and IE or Rhapsody or other big names to come out here. I still don't know why Sabaton is skipping over AZ though, they'd get a solid reception in a smaller venue.

There has to be, considering that you're going from the northern tip of the US coast to practically mexico.

Therein lies the problem. Expectations. I think many bands expectations are set way too high. I'm not talking about NYC, LA or Chicago either, but for the smaller secondary markets. Plus it doesn't help that most bills that come through contain crappy or repeat support bands. There's no extra incentive for the fan who is on the fence to come out and watch the show.

JESUS H. CHRIST!!! Of all the fucking days to play NYC, they would have to pick my wife's birthday. :bah::cry::cry::cry:
