still scratching my head about this one...haven't used it in a few days and wasn't even near it when i heard a pop and a fizzle. I looked and saw the power was plugged into a power strip along with my Mac which is fine. Damn, lost everything :confused:
 
Dam man i just hate when that stuff happens.. A couple of weeks ago i bought a new hard drive to back up and back ip.. Next thing u know one of my drives decided to fail just before the backup and i lost a lot of stuff
 
Amazon Glacier is cheap if you have stuff you cannot afford to lose. I wouldn't store an OS image there, but anything else critical it'd be good. Only downside is long retrieve times. Other's like Backblaze are competitive.
 
I've gone to a completely cloud based backup for all my systems. I've experienced too many hardware failures over the years and even though I always had some from of backup (including the tape backup still in my server tower - have not used in in years, but it's still installed), not worrying that any days data will be lost is very comforting.
