I used to be the guy that refused to use facebook because I knew how myspace worked and liked it better. Earlier this year I noticed there was more activity on facebook and eventually got used to it. Went back to myspace to see that it was dead. After a year on facebook I learned that facebook was better from the beginning in terms of social networking and keeping up with what your friends and family are doing.
I do like how they made it more resistive to spam on wide audiences. The users there have to actually seek out music and entertainment that they are interested in, not the other way around. Yeah a lot of bands don't like that they can't shamelessly promote now, and you have to get your name out there in the real world to get people searching your name on the internet. But once you have those fans and a facebook, your fans will have the ability to stay caught up on everything you are doing as a band a hell of a lot better than myspace.
