Rock Harvest

Honestly, I'm surprised you're still playing it after all the BS that happened...

Well, we still have friends who bought tickets and wanted to see us on Thursday. Plus Ashes of Ares and Twisted Tower Dire are playing, so I'd like to see them. It sucks, but we're willing to pick ourselves up and keep going.

Also, Ares is playing Saturday. They're also good friends of ours and great guys, so I hope people are willing to give them a chance.

Duchess -

I honestly don't think anyone was trash talking Burning Shadows.. I think it was more along the lines of having been promised big name national touring acts, and having them replaced with bands that many have never heard of - that's all.

People are really annoyed with the promoters right now, and unfortunately, when we're angry, people can say things in a way that comes out in sounding nothing like they intended.

EDIT: I've never been a Barlow fan, but Ashes of Ares was a delightful surprise for me at ProgPower. That set should be amazing.

Glad to hear it. I get a little defensive when it comes to my metal bros, especially my fellow nerd metal bros.

Hmmm. Rumors floating around about Raven not playing Friday unless they get their deposit, today.

Just a rumor, but there ya go.

Absolutely. We've played with Burning Shadows before, and in fact, I booked them at my little show, Metal Quest. I really do get people's frustration. We were also screwed over on this deal. We were supposed to go on tour with Benedictum. We had shows booked. They had to cancel their entire tour because they were one of the bands that was promised transportation from Twisted Nail, so that screwed us over too. I had to go back to square one and re-schedule and re-book our tour from scratch without help from anyone after being promised this-and-that.

So yeah, I'm mad too. Believe me, it goes deeper than just me just defending my band. People shit talk my band all the time. I've gotten over it. But I will defend my friends because they stood by us, so I'm gonna do the same for them.

As for people complaining about the line-up change, I get it. I really do. And I hope everyone who wants one gets a refund. This wasn't fair to anyone, especially those who bought those expensive VIP tickets. I'd be raging if I were one of them.

question for you....

how does transportation to one show effect a whole tour for Benedictum? After that show they would have to get transportation for the rest of the tour right? Unless there is a member from way far away who needed flying in.

A flight from the West coast to the East coast was supposed to be provided (like with most of the bands). After that, we had a plan. Unfortunately, without flight for 4 people there isn't enough money to get them and their gear down here so the whole thing was scrapped.

I read the whole 3 part article, and unfortunately, the math never added up... they would have blown pretty much their entire income on just travel costs for Saturday's bands.. maybe if every ticket sold was a VIP ticket and it sold out completely, it might have covered all of the travel costs..

I'm guessing that the sponsors who cancelled were expected to bear a huge amount of the cost, and when they pulled out, it was all but over.

Nina,
Just to play devil's advocate, you have to understand that many fans will also look down on the bands who ARE staying on the bill. It's just a reality. Many bands don't want to be associated with this, because once this is all said and done, there could be investigations over potential contract breaches. I have heard of this being the reason many bands have dropped off festivals in the past.

And as others have said, it's not at all a dis on the bands still playing, including yours. But we have to be honest here. The "marquee" bands who were selling the majority of the tickets are gone.

It really blows for you and the remaining bands as you don't reap the benefits of being on a bill with those bands too.

I do commend you though for holding your ground and choosing to stay on the bill. I can not imagine it was an easy decision to do so.

Well, we're locals. We were never going to get paid anyway. It wouldn't be right for us to drop off since we weren't personally wronged. I mean, we kinda were, but in a roundabout way. I'm really just looking forward to playing for the people who decide to come.

Maybe Raven can play with us at Empire on Friday. lol

Hopefully that will get you some goodwill in the local metal community and bring more folks out to your shows.

I probably wouldn't test that earned goodwill by signing on for Rock Harvest III at this point, however. ;-)
