When Metal crashed and went underground at the end of the 80s, I lost track of it and didn't really get back into it until 1999. Even then, I didn't begin to develop an appreciation for Death/Black vocals until much later. Whenever I've tried to revisit the "classics" I've found that later bands, who were influenced by these "bread and butter" releases, have built significantly built upon the original foundation. Consequently, going backwards feels like just that.
