Rufus got a playmate today

Argh! I love kittens! I've always been a cat guy but have always wanted a dog. Unfortunately my girlfriends not a fan... I'm going to hijack the thread with a picture of one of my two cats. We got them from a shelter when they were less than a month old. Someone left them on the side of a freeway in a box. They're near identical twin brothers.

About a week after we took them home :)

Also Marcus its great seeing people adopting pets in need!

Wow, that's a hell of a find dude, your lucky day! (and bushy tail is bushy :D) And Nic - I may have to take you up on that (especially since you used a Captain Picard line :D) Oh, and apologies for the thread title disappointment; I'll try to get a pic of my girlfriend with him to make up for it (no promises on n00dz though :D)

And an update - yesterday I was playing with Mawson, sitting in the hall where we have him set up, next to a gate we put up in the doorframe. Rufus was up against the gate on the other side, peering over curiously to see what was going on, and I was petting him with my right arm (we're making sure to still give him plenty of attention so be doesn't get jealous). Mawson then proceeded to scurry up my back, walk along my arm (that was petting Rufus) and touch his nose, it was adorable (and it happened twice) - progress :D And so far he hasn't scratched or bitten, he's been tolerant, affectionate, and very curious! (especially about climbing :D)

Wow, that's quite a cautionary tale dude, but it honestly comes as little surprise - I can't deny, I'm in general not a big fan of cats, because of their potential for the dangerous combo of an aloof, stand-off attitude and razor sharp claws and teeth - however, I've also encountered some loving, affectionate ones, and I'm hoping that by getting this guy at such a young age, we'll be able to properly socialize him to us and Rufus, who for those who dont know is our lovable 75-pound goofball golden retriever :D However, we're taking it slow, which leads me to...

Personally, thats what i love about cats. :D
Our cat Mumin(Moomin for you English folks.) and i is in a constant battle of dominance.
That little ugly bastard hangs on to my leg and bite as hard as he can, then we fight for a good 20 minutes, he sighs and walks away admitting defeat.
The day after it all repeats.

But then again, he is a cuddlebot against pretty much everyone else but me. ;)

Try to wipe the reek of menstruation of your posts; today marks the beginning of his third day home with us, and considering his age (which should be obvious from the pics) we don't want him getting hurt climbing all over things, finding his way underfoot, or having a bad interaction with Rufus. We take him out and play with him almost hourly, and soon we'll give him free roam of the kitchen, which we'll keep gated off from the rest of the house (and soon after the whole house, obviously) - would you just set your human baby loose to have free reign of your pad?

Yeah.. i have to say that i reacted to the picture as well at first, but when i saw how young he was i was like "oh!".
This kitten cant possibly be more then 7 weeks(I would actually guess 6 weeks.), so its completely understandable having it in a cage when you're not with it.
I actually have a friend who's cat died at about 6 weeks of age, just because it was allowed to roam the house freely and fell down the stairs. :/

Precisely - and you're dead on with your estimate of his age :) (or at least that's what the vets guessed)

Awww, Pawson is adorable! But what became of the other shelter kitties? I'm a sucker for little greys.

Most were adopted by the time we picked him up (Mawson, btw :)), and I doubt the others were there for very long, they were adorable indeed :D
