Just thought I'd mention that War Pigs, a great Sabbath tribute band, are playing tomorrow night at the Armadale Hotel I think.

Seen them once before. The singer believes he is Ozzy I think, looks, dresses, acts and sounds just the same as Ozzy did in the mid-late '70s haha.

While we're talking about Sabbath, where does one find Past Lives in Australia? Has it even been released here?

I'm also on the lookout for a few Sabbath MP3s, in particular:

Heaven and Hell
Children of the Sea
Die Young

(all live 1980- released on the flip sides of Dio era singles)

Black Moon (earlier version that was on the B-side of The Shining)

Headless Cross (radio edit)

Letters From Earth- alternate mix
Heaven and Hell- live
Paranoid- live

(all B-sides from the TV Crimes single)

If anybody's got 'em, let me know. I'd be glad to organise a trade of other rare stuff you might like :).

There wasn't much of a Hughes era where live gigs were concerned, Spiff. He only lasted four dates on the tour because of his then cocaine habit and the fight he got into where someone punched him in the face and he couldn't sing properly.

Pity, because I love what I've heard of the Seventh Star album. No Stranger to Love and Heart Like A Wheel are fantastic, with the added bonus of Eric Singer on drums. Must buy it soon...

I don't know, I just do :) And it's not because I heard post-Ozzy Sabbath first, because I heard Ozzy-era first. It's not the vocals, it's the music.

*shrug*

Wrathy, I don't care if they only had four gigs - the Hughes era was the best and most important!!! He's the Voice of Rock, gosh darnit, and he must be accorded the proper respect!

I prefer the music in the post-Ozzy stuff to the Ozzy-era stuff. It suits my tastes more, y'know? It's certainly not Ozzy's voice which I don't like, because I've loved all of his solo stuff up to and including No More Tears. I guess to me most of the 70s Sabbath stuff just sounds like music you put on when you're stoned :)

The same could be said for Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles and Pink Floyd.

I like all those bands and yet I never touch drugs (unless you count that bag of Whiz Fizz I snorted in high school). Not pretty. I was sneezing sherbet for a week :).

I've never liked Jimi Hendrix. Floyd and the Beatles both rule, but I'm not a big fan of a lot of Led Zep stuff. I guess it's just a 70s thing, which is strange considering I like quite a few 70s bands. :)
