Sadus re-release

That 2012 prediction referred to on the Testament album is a Mayan prophecy I believe. Although I live in North America, which is not far from Central or South America...my heritage is split between Norse and Italian. And as far as I know both are only concerned with the "now" and not caught up in trying to forsee an unpredictable future.

Ever notice that the Chinese and Persians have different New Year's Day than Anglo-Caucasians...?
Anyway, it's all in fun...but I don't subscribe to the arrogance of "whitey's" non-all-encompassing, non-global, and mostly inaccurate calendar.

Besides, what happened to your 06-06-06 day...? Pretty uneventful from what I've seen.

Shit, looks like a topic for a different thread...
Ummm...buy the Sadus albums!!! There. We're back...! Hehehe...

3 days of darkness then world ends, where's your Testament CDs?

Alright, you got me! I'm not too big on Testament. Nothing against them. I just never had anything leading me to them so I haven't heard too much from them.

I actually thought that 2010, 2011, and 2012 comments were about the Roadrunner contract. Unless it also is about that...you all DO get the rights to the records back at that point (or some other point), right? Maybe Mascot can do something then.

True, Asians still use their traditional calendar and they are not in 2006. I've always wanted to understand on what they based their calendar.

At least it's informative...and everyone that commented so far seems in favor of Sadus. Still, they mentioned "Why would anyone want to boycott this?"

I guess they're talking to me. :p

Just like to set the record straight. The reason for reissuing the first three Sadus albums was not to rip off the band. We like the band and find that their albums deserve to be available and not only for $ 30 - 50 on eBay.

We licensed them officially from Roadrunner and we pay them of course. What their duty is to do with that money is not up to us. The contract RR has with Sadus is the obligation RR has. Since we're not aware of the contents of the contract (only RR and Sadus do) we cannot predict what part will end up with the band. According to Steve's comment, we assume it's not much, if anything.
No, we don't like that either. When we deal directly with a band, we always pay the band their royalties, but with a license deal, we're not the ones that deal with the band. So don't blame us.

We would like to make these 3 albums the final versions, ones that the band, the fans and us are proud of. If you decide not to buy these albums because the band might not get paid for it, we understand the reason, but doubt it will have any positive effect on anyone.

We'll post a message as soon as the details of the releases are finalized.

I've grown up around enough Mayan decendents to know why so much is staked on that prophecy. From the outsiders point of view, since they were "right" about so many other predictions, everybody takes a lot more stock in the prediction that the world will end in 2012. My questions is, since we've had so many opportunities to fuck up and end the world already, we are we still living? In last relevant note, that "3 days of Darkness" song is one of my favorites off of that album.

So If you buy the re re-release and feel bad about it. Send Steve a few bucks and let your guilty mind rest.

This is an excellent short term solution which made me think of something else. What is needed is a crazy solution. I wonder how much the rights for the first three Sadus albums go for? Since Roadrunner probably isn't making much of anything on it currently (what, that best of album maybe?), maybe you guys can turn the protest against the re-release into a fund raiser for buying the rights back to the trio. Tough to organize, but if it worked...

That'd be...amazing. I'm sure it'd also be quite a lot of money. But a very interesting idea. I was thinking something similar before, but not quite this. You've really taken this a step further.

A dollar amount on these things is tough to estimate. Perception here rules the game. The price unfortunately will now probably be higher because Displeased is leasing the rights. The guys over at Roadrunner will think that because they're paying what they are for the rights, there is at least some demand for all that out-of-print stuff. But think, Roadrunner is huge and is making a lot more off of some of their other stuff that they're putting out. Trying to get into their heads, they didn't want to release the stuff on their own (more $ for them), but they seemed to be happy to pass off the production job to someone else. (That is, if I correctly understand Displeased to not be associated with Roadrunner.) If you could get the dollar amount within a correct territory, I'm sure they would be happy with the cash as opposed to the pennies they probably get with Displeased. Ball park estimate: $8,500-$47,000(?) If I was still sitting on that mound of cash/assets I had in '05, I would make a significant contribution. Hell, if the price for the rights was within new Toyota/Honda territory I'd jump on it. 0% interest loan to the band that could be paid back whenever. Unfortunately the cash well, that all went to...how do you say, "Disaster coverage." Some "act of God".

Yesterday I received the Chemical Exposure LP! At the same internet shop I also ordered the Vision of Misery LP. To make my collection more or less complete I would like to have original pressing Chemical Exposure CD as well. Of course the search and the moment of finding are the best, after that there is a black hole of emptiness & seeking other stuff. Anyhow, my week is perfect now.
