Well, I finally got around to buying the complete 2002 SPV re-releases of the Savatage catalog for my birthday. The two things that attracted me to these were the liner notes and the bonus tracks. I have to say that the liner notes alone are worth the price of admission. After reading each insert, then going back and listening to the music has helped me notice some stuff that I've overlooked before. For example, Jon Oliva plays drums on the track "Can You Hear Me Now" from Streets A Rock Opera. I always just assumed that it was Walchoz, but during recording Steve had to return to Florida. Little tidbits like that help people like me to appreciate the music and recording process just a little more than I already did. If you've been on the fence about buying these, I recommend doing so.
