That's fair enough Vince, but I think it is pretty odd that the band don't tell you what is going on so it can be announced on their own website! I'm assuming that Biff knows that the band are doing these shows?!!
The bands agent is the one who books the tours with promoters who book the venues. It is quite common for any band not to know their own tourdates until weeks later than published. I reckon it is in fact unlikely that Biff knows the dates himself yet, other than they will be touring later in the year.
The agent prepares the dates, touring, schedule, hotels etc and then the band get this delivered in a package quite often weeks after tourdates are published.
So. if Biff told me that he thinks Saxon may be doing a show in the UK in August in London, but he is not sure yet, that I should report this, only to then find that the show gets booked for October .............. I don't think so, as you lot would harp on about why book a show in august and its now in October .............. Think about it.
I, the webmaster cannot publish any dates dates unless officially confirmed by the agent. If I did I would be editing the dates page more regularly!!
Please, I only do the website - I am not a fountain of all knowledge when it comes to what Saxon are doing. I can only report what is given to me officially by their agent or management. I also DO NOT KNOW WHETHER SAXON will be coming to the USA, Australia, Japan, Alaska, Canada, Penzance or the Outer Hebrides.
I have been officially given the tourdates today and have reported them on the website as per normal.
N.B. I run the Bloodstock festival as you know. We booked and confirmed Children of Bodom to headline in January. The band still probably do not know they are doing this show !! At the moment they are interested in touring the USA with Iced earth. Their agent will deliver their schedule when they are back from the USA in May !! this is how it has always worked for years except that in the past there was no internet where information can be passed on in minutes as opposed to weeks or months. In the olden days it was easier. The agent booked tours in plenty of time as magazines etc were published monthly, and if you were lucky you got to hear about a tour coming up earlier by listening to the radio, or on Tv or something. Now, as soon as the sniff of a date is announced it seems I should know what the hell is going on, well sorry to disappoint but the mechanisms for booking dates and tours has not changed other than the info can be passed around in seconds rather than weeks now! Nuff said.
