Had to vote on both because we all know that they are perfect examples of metal. Neither one is the best example of the bands but they are near perfect. I remember in an old hit parader that had Def Leppard up against Maiden. Plus in Guitar for the Practicing Musician, they had Smith/Murray against Clark/Collen... I had the same thoughts back then... perfect bands/albums/guitar teams that are beyond comparison. This will probably come down to personal opinion.

Screaming for Vengeance. In my opinion, it's Priest's second best album, behind Stained Class. As for Piece of Mind. Meh, i don't think it's anything special at all. I consider it to be Maiden's most overrated album.

Piece of Mind for me...although I love both albums. I just think Piece of Mind was a more musical album and it really moved me and captured much of the "signature" Maiden style in my opinion. I played bass along with Piece of Mind a thousand times if I did once.

You could argue both sides forever as they are both GREAT bands and two awesome albums that paved the way for future bands down the road. I just happen to identify with Maiden's music a tad bit more than Priest but again - I love both bands in a big way.

Both of them... Screaming happens to be my fave Priest album of all time.. was the first one i bought too ... used to play it for endless hours.. as for Maiden my fave will always be Live After Death because I think they like most bands are better live then on record.. but Piece of Mind is a great great album...

Both have great songs from start to finish. HOWEVER! Screaming has got a better production to it. Piece is a bit sluggish and the sound falls a little on the dull side.

I voted for "Piece Of Mind" for the simplests of reasons.

I STARTED AT METAL WITH THAT ALBUM!

And although SFV was my first JP album too, POM is dearest in my heart (now if you had put "Defenders Of The Faith" instead that'll had been a battle).

piece omind is waay overated, I mean people talk about power metal being repetitive, but look at this one, I still listen to it, but dang is it repetitive.

If not for the sub-par drumming on SFV, It would be tough to choose. Piece of Mind by a Nicko McBrain's flat nose (yeah! that close!!)

I voted for PRIEST! Which is wierd..ya know, years ago I would have said Maiden all the way. I was always a Maiden fan as a kid and still am but for some reason in the last few years I have let my love for Judas Priest surpass and even BURY my taste for Maiden. I love EVERY priest album, even the turds like TURBO and RAM IT DOWN, but for some reason Iron Maiden lost me after Somewhere In Time...

I concur!

I voted for both, but I prefer "Balls to the Wall." I always thought Priest and Maiden were fairly equal on vocals, Priest was better on guitars and Maiden better in the rythm section.

 I think they are both Overrated (The Albums that is) Both Bands had done and have done better

I disagree with you that SFV is overrated, but i can forgive you because you're Jonny Fuckin' D and you have Owen Hart in your signature. :D Long live the King of Harts!!!

hoo boy, Priest, hands down, they (besides metallica) were the first band to really get me into metal. when i went to our town's cd store, and i picked up my first copy of SFV and Stained Class, i was speechless. since that day i have loved the Priest almost more than any band ive heard, as well as some of you, i too love every single priest album, theyre all magnificent IMO

glad to see priest is winning the poll! now let us pray! :worship: :worship: :worship:
