Although I don't have tickets yet, there is a good chance I will be going and driving right past you on the way (I-88). Send me an email if you still need a ride. Most likely I'll be coming in early.

Any idea how long the show has been going now that it's only 2 bands? I was thinking of taking the train downtown from Hanover Park and there's one train coming back from Chicago at 10:40pm and the next isn't until 12:40am.

The show is supposed to start at 6pm so does anyone know if the previous shows have gone over 4 hours? I'd hate to have to drive all the way down there or wait until 12:40am!

Thanks,
Dan

omg what an amazing show.

we got the grand conjuration/hope leaves setlist instead of the baying of the hounds/to rid the disease setlist

hopefully they switch it up for the milwaukee show on friday!!

One of the best Opeth shows I've been to. It was fucking great!

And Mike was hilarious as usual
Mike was the usual funny man but I have to say it was actually the worst Opeth show for me. Worst doesn't necessarily mean bad, it just was the worst of the 4 shows I've seen. High on Fire was an hour of misery and Opeths sound was shit for the first 3 songs. Opeth has outgrown the House of Blues and I hate being packed in like sardines. After the sound issues were cleared up Opeth was spot on for the rest of the set.

As others have posted Opeth didn't play an extended set, unfortunately, so I was out of there by 9:20pm in plenty of time to catch the train.

I have to agree that the sound wasn't that great at first and a bigger venue would be nice. Saw them at the Rosemont Theater for the Progressive Nation tour and that was much better!

So they didn't replace Nachtmystium at all?
I think that would have been a killer package.
Oh well.
After standing through an hour of the horseshit that is High on Fire I am thrilled that they didn't put a second shitty band up there.

I thought it was a great show, I really enjoyed the setlist. It was good to see the guys again.

House Of Blues can be really uncomfortable and a pain in the ass to deal with, I agree. Unfortunately it's the venue best suited for them size-wise. The only other venues I can think of that would be really good are the Vic Theater (where they did the Damnation show) or the aforementioned Rosemont Theater. Everywhere else just seems either too big, too small, or they're just really crappy dumps.
