Hi!

I'm bored by these super tight EMG 81 (my current PU) sound. That's
the reason why I want to install a new pickup in my guitar.

I think I should test a Seymour Blackout, but I can not decide
between AHB 1-3 ...

So, can someone help me with this decision?

sorry, I forgot...

My guitar (Epiphone Les Paul, Black Ebony, 2x EMG 81):

... and I am looking for a new active pickup (Seymour Duncan Blackout) for the bridge position.

I've got the AHB-1 i believe, it's got mud and fizz I can never seem to get rid of, didn't notice at first but every time I play it now it bugs me :|

edit: It's in an alder guitar too

Have you tried the 18 volt mod? or maybe an EMG 85, it seems to have some more low mids.

+1 to the EMG 85. If you want to have a little more warmth over the 81, the 85 works really well.

Thanks at all! :)

I've heard a comparison between 9 V and 18 V - I did not like it.
But the EMG 85 could fit. I've never played or heard
one in a bridge position.

... why not a passive?
Because I don't want to change the whole electronic of my guitar. ;)
