Just checked out Leprous and they're amazing!!! Probably the closest I'd ever get to seeing Opeth at PPUSA
Well, not counting PPUSA III.
The band was willing; their bean-counter was weak.
Power metal Camp? are we picking sides and going to war? ..... OK!
come on my Power Metal Brothas let us take up our swords and axes, and they can take up their....um.....fusion-bomb missiles and heavy laser batteries.

Now here is something interesting -- despite the rather unappealing
name, Leprous actually play some quite beautiful progressive metal.
It's nice to hear a band doing something unique, and Leprous have
really attempted to explore some unusual soundscapes on TALL POPPY
SYNDROME. Many times with prog metal the emphasis is on complex
arrangements and dazzling technical passages, but Leprous take a more
subtle approach and place accent on the emotional effect of the entire
piece of music; indeed, it would be hard to extract individual songs
for recognition, as the whole album is equally excellent and really
needs to be heard in its entirety. What springs to mind when listening
to TALL POPPY SYNDROME is craftsmanship, as the pieces are really
carefully constructed and benefit from repeated listens. Only drawback
for me is some of the vocals, which periodically stray into modern
territory with demonstrations of the now ubiquitous anguished scream;
it works though, as the subject matter is a stark reflection of
distress and lamentation. Closest comparison musically would be to
bands such as Pain Of Salvation and Opeth, but these guys are by no
means copy artists. My recommendation: if you are at all into modern
progressive metal, check out some samples of TALL POPPY SYNDROME and
prepare to be impressed...

I've got to say, as much as I dislike prog (for the most part), he DOES have a point, haha, hell, with as shitfaced as you get, Ian, I don't think you could tell the difference between Olivia Munn and Jon Oliva.

Hey now both of you, I have to behave this year otherwise uncle Glenn is gonna kill me being a sponsor and all. I was just saying yeah the main event has plenty of Power and I am more excited for this lineup then any other one I had been to other then IX. I was just saying another Power band for thursday to even it out or at least a Power/Prog band.

From my fan side, yes; from Shane's business side.... maybe. With cheaper tickets than ProgPower it might pull some of the fans who weren't willing to pay the PPUSA ticket price to see them 2 years ago (and that weren't fans of the other bands on the roster). But it would be very risky.

Definitely agreed! Last year was extremely prog heavy to say the least. Prog had it's chance. Now it's power metal's turn. Fair is fair.
Bullshit. Last year had 6 power metal, 3 prog and 2 who knows what but I'll call em prog. You could argue one I put as powermetal.. being prog, either way it wasn't prog heavy.
This year is 9 power'ish, and 4 proggish bands.

how about Mercenary? they neither power or prog they are just heavy and good.
