inspired by my digressions & reflections on sim city in the "fuck you america and your perfect geometry" thread

who else loves sim city! i used to be a huge fanboy of the entire "sim" series back when i was 10-13 or something and i still think sc2000 is one of the best games ever! brilliant stuff!

my favourites are probably sc2000 and sc3000 is really cool too, but also sim city 1 for SNES (brilliant, much better than the PC version)

sim city 4 was kinda cool but i haven't played it much!

i used to play sc2000 ALL THE TIME! we even used it in school a bit, and i stole a copy of it from school only to find out it was for MAC, and, well... fuck that!

good game though, I didn't like 3000 as much when it came out and if there are more after that they might as well not exist

haven't played sim city 4, i should check it out.

Sim City 2000 provided me with countless hours of entertaintment back in theday, I should dig that out again!

I own 3000 and played it like twice.

But about 12 years ago I stayed up all night playing Mortal Kombat on my friend's Sega Genesis and finally got bored with it, so played Sim Shitty on his SNES and kept doing the money code to build an entire village of nuclear plants.

I'm going to put together a tradelist of computer games and CDs soon, many of which will be nearly free because I just don't want them gathering dust.

STAY TUNED.

sc4 is BEAUTIFUL graphics-wise. it had huge system requirements when it came out, so my duron 800 was kinda slow with it, but now that i have an a64 3000+ i might install it again!

yeah, i followed the game when it came out but just never had the time/money to go pick it up. It did look kickass.

haha. I have an X2 3800+ and a 6600GT, it won't phase my comp :p

I was (still am kinda) a BIG sim fan. From the very beginnings of sim city classic, to sim city 2000 (which i played the most) to sim city 3000 (which was my least favorite) to the last sim city 4. Only bad thing about part 4 is you need a good computer to run it, and alot of ram. If you have a large "region" your comp gets bogged down ALOT. I bought all the strategy guides to sim city 2000, i was obsessed with that game, and for nostolgic purposes still is myfavorite. Sim city 2000 while still simple started to bring in more complex features (terrain, ability to design own buildins, budget etc). And who didnt love arcologies :headbang: Sim city 3000 seemed to be a bit of a demo for sim city 4. While good, they still had alot of things to work out. I played it the least. 4 is another beast all together. It is much more complex now, in every aspect of the game. The terrain part alone is insane. You can get a scale satellite image of a region from above and put them in the game. (i can get a layout thats pretty much the map of the bronx and just build from there, quite cool) I'ts mind boggling what people come up with in terms of creations for the game. It's alot more online based as well, you can download pretty much anything imagineable. The terrain different waters, foliage, landforms , streets, buildings, architecture, etc... notice how cool:

The other sim games i played were simfarm and simtower. They should make updates. mmmm yea i'm a fan :D

I had 2000 it was good! The first one is funny too (totally unrealistic <- rules)

I prefered old school SNES sim city and the newest one. Simtower was pretty badass and so were the original Sims and SIm theme park

Edit: I forgot Simant! that game was shit! stupid aants

wiiieeeerd. yet another thread that i was going to start but someone beat me to it. i didnt think id get any repsonses for a sim city thread though.
anyway, i bought 4 and the rush hour expansion pack when it came out. i think it was '04. i had to buy more RAM for my computer! i dont play it much anymore because it got kinda boring and i could never get the highways to what i wanted.
i also dont have an imagination so my cities are pretty boring.

I'm an old scooler.
I used to play the very first simcity who ever came out
(remember? with the bad graphics! :tickled: )
and loved it!!!
then the one after that.. what was the name ...
when you could see the city a ***little*** bit better...

I love that game..i should really get into the new ones
and build my own place, y0.
