similarity?

Hello all! Well after being converted to EVERGREYISM I am wondering if anyone out there could list some other bands playing with similar style and "finish" that grey does. I've had "insearch.." stuck in the car for the past seven months and now my friends simply won't get in the car any longer not that that bothers me but still he he

I can't really think of a band that has a similar sound to Evergrey... which I guess is a good thing... Evergrey has forged their own unique sound... but here are some other bands you might like:

Wolverine - Dark, dynamic progressive metal
Zero Hour - Very heavy tech metal
Pain of Salvation - Impossible to describe... simply magnificent
Symphony X - Heavy progressive metal that is quite epic and features some neoclassical influences

I love both POS and Symphony X. I'd recommend the album 'V' or 'Divine Wings of Tragedy' for Symphony X and 'Remedy Lane' for POS.

If you haven't already, I would check out Nevermore. They are certainly different from Evergrey, but they have their similarities. I just got "Dead Heart in a Dead World" which is their lastest. It's an excellent cd, fairly heavy (with only clean vocals, though) with a dark atmosphere, especially in the last few songs. The track "Insignificant" is very haunting with a somber meaning, but I simply love it.
But here I am going on and on about a very popular band. I'm sure most of you reading this now know what I'm talking about and it isn't news to you. Anyway, I'm really glad I got the CD and I would recommend it to anyone reading this. Can't wait for their new one due out this year!

Evergrey is quite original IMO, I can't think of any band that shares numerous similarities with them, or projects a comparable atmosphere...

I think one of Evergrey's most distinctive characteristics is their voice. And I don't mean just vocals. They're very distinctive and hard to lump in with other bands.
