Simone/Epica

Wow. MRSA is a really nasty thing to have...hope she recovers as quickly as possible. From what I've heard, the treatment for it is not pleasant. I'd love to see her and the band opening for SymX, but only if she's 100% healthy.

Henk - awesome pics, as usual. Now get your ass back to PPUSA this year!!!

I had hernia surgery this past Tuesday and I can't work or lift a thing for six weeks. The pain is horrible. If treatment for MRSA is worse than my pain, then I really feel bad for Simone. Good luck to her!

So thinking back, would this be a side effect of her hospital stay while on the US headlining tour when she hurt her leg?

That's exactly what I was thinking. My mother-in-law was an infection control specialist at the hospital where I also worked for seven years. Hospital-acquired infections are way more common then people realize.

Some sites with info:
Mayo Clinic on MRSA
CDC on the cost of HAI
Consumers Union site for stopping HAI
(some pretty sad/scary stories there.)

While she certainly might have contracted MRSA somewhere else, I'd sure like to know where she was treated here and research their infection record. Just out of curiosity.

All that aside, I truly wish Simone a speedy recovery and return to perfect health. A shame for anyone to have this illness, but is seems especially discouraging in someone so young and talented.

a real shame. hope she gets well, i would hope they would be able to still to do the US tour with SX/IE. though, i'd rather her make a full and healthy recovery and come back later.
This is true. If Epica can't do the tour Leaves' Eyes would fill in rather nicely. I know, bring on the flak!

Dude, you trying to ruin my year already?

Seems strange to have too early concerts this year canceled for medical reasons. I really hope this doesn't become a trend, and hope everyone heals up.

That antibiotic resistant stuff is nasty, and it's only going to get worse. I had a close call with it when I had some ankle surgery. I got this one site on my foot that started eating away the bone and everything. They had to go back in, cut out that section of bone, and fill it with these calcium balls impregnated with some additional antibiotic to get rid of it. Not fun.

The pics from last Friday's gig are online

Enjoy!

I really hope Epica makes it over here. I couldnt make their show last fall. They fell into that category of "Want to go, but I'm already going to around 10 shows in a 3-month span." TOO MANY bands all here at the same time last fall. I hope things get spread out more this year!!!

That WAS a crazy time for shows. So many in such a short time span. I sure hope she gets healthy and they play.
