singer and quite new

Hey everybody,

I have been singing for about 10 years now, but just started to believe I could join a band. I sing clean but can also go with growls.. Basically, I know nothing about microphones or speakers. I don't wanna put all my money in this, so I'm asking if any of you could point me out some decent stuff for a "beginner", let's say I wanted to join a metal band (obviously )
