They were really more Speed Metal than Thrash Metal when you come to thinmk of it. It doesn't make them any less great (Old slayer that is) but it does make a difference...

I will admit those two aren't their best albulms but you can clearly here the guitars of jeff hanneman and kerry king which puts it way above any nu metal i've ever heard.
the only filtered sound i hear is tom araya's bass.
what's your definition of nu metal?:)

I've come to the conclusion that all Slayer post-Seasons sucks due to these factors.

A) Obesity (They all got too fat)
B) Drunkards (Way over the edge now)
C) Without their energy they're forced to play slower (It's a fact :D )
D) They were forced to by their records label(s) to sell more albums.
E) Eventually they wanted the money, thus conformed more to what the masses wanted, not me. (Because I'm the only one that matters :D )

Fuck man.In my opinion Slayer haven't stoped pumping out killer cds EVER.Can you honestly say Divine Intervention or God Hates Us All doesn't stand up to their earlier albums?Your on the wrong fucking drugs man if you do.Maybe you should switch dealers or something.Your brain has started to rot.Even Diabolus cranks.Granted they had a few slower tracks on it but sit's comfortably next to Seasons and South Of Heaven which saw Slayer developing more atmosphere to their material. The only song on it that has any resemblence if any to the "nu-metal" sound is Stain Of Mind, but fuck man...It's no Limp Bizkit is it?
Forced to play slower?Unless they've taken a complete about turn since last year when i last saw them. They fucking slaughterd all who attended.Unrelenting.
All the points you made are so fucking lame.

Their two first albums and Haunting the Chapel were very excellent. After Hell Awaits, they've gone downhill though the next three were still decent.

I am not calling them nu metal exactly because they aren't. Their music just has that nu metal feel to it and has some nu metal influences involved. Just like a year ago I remember in an interview with one of the band members they said "we are going for a slipknot like sound on here".

I agree with whoever said anything after Seasons sucks. I have heard it all except for Divine Intervention and I heard thats a decent album so I am still gonna check that one out. God Hates Us All is okay and in my opinion alot better than Diabolus but its still not the Slayer that put out Reign In Blood or South Of Heaven.

Slayer were definitely Thrash Metal. Speed Metal is stuff like old Helloween, Agent Steel & stuff like that.

True on the last sentence, but no, Slayer was ALSO Speed Metal.

I'll admit they had Thrash in them, but they were more Speed than Thrash.
