I've always had a few pics laying around of certain snare mic'ing positions but I was wondering if others had anything cool to share. Maybe someone here has a huge archive of drum mic'ing pics :)

ahj/Justin/CFH13 thanks a ton!

CFH13: Do I spy Bozzio's kit there? haha

I think this will be a good thread to reference to when people ask about snare mic'ing.

I'm updating my post with all the pics I have as well here in a few mins. I think this will be a good thread to reference to when people ask about snare mic'ing.

You are mistaken...couldn't possibly of been him at all :goggly:

Yeah I wasn't engineering (frank fillipetti was) but I was programming and editing on the project so I got to stand around while frank quietly wimpered "fuck my life".

Are all those pics you posed (except andy's I noticed) of sessions you've done? Cause one of them looks like the factory here in Vancouver.

CFH13: Nah, these are just ones I have in my collection. Here is a pic of a session I did at my house a while back:

more in this thread I posted some time ago.

Snare is one thing I always feel I'm still struggling with when it comes to the mic position. Sometimes the snare sounds like crap to begin with, but I feel like I'm somehow never getting the raw source that I should be getting. On top of that, I really dig looking at pics of mic'ed drumsets, gives me ideas and whatnot and it's kinda like porn. In fact I wish there were more threads like this for everything. Vocal mic'ing, guitar mic'ing, etc. A picture is worth 1,000 words man, it's so true when it comes to mic positions.

Man, you really "cover all the bases" so to speak. Very cool. In those super multi mic setups how many would you say you usually end up using?
