I watched "something about a van" the recent Dave Grohl doco about life on the road and specifically in a van together and of all the people in it Lars is the only one that comes off as pretentious wanker in every scene he's in. There was enough other interesting people in the show that Dave really should have kept Metallica out of it, especially given that by Lars' own admission they never toured in a van.

It was kind of mutual, but Gorhl spoke to other big bands too, U2, Chilli Peppers and GNR spoke on behalf of big bands like Metallica. While they also had band members from bands like Dead Kennedy's, Black Flag, Slayer, and of course the totally obscure people no one has ever heard of.
