I just went to compusa or whatever and bought what was on sale. No complaints. The thing I'd look for that's more important is good burning software. Burners themselves probably aren't gonna differ to much these days.

I've been a diehard Nero user for quite some time now, though I'll probably start using CD architect more for mixes now that I've played around with it.

Sony drives are often cheap and come with a program called "B's Recorder" which you might at first think is some amateur-ish crap, but is actually rather good.
