so.. does anyone here like dubstep?

You really need a good sub to appreciate this stuff, i listened to a song on a system that didnt have good lows and the song didnt sound half as good as it does with a sub.

Anyone know where to start with getting sick bass samples like this? I can see this and djent mixing so well.

Get bass sound.
Sync LFO to rate/host clock. 1/8 should work good.
Use LFO to modulate filter cut off frequency.
Then you can, for example, turn on portamento/slide. (if you want)

You basically screw around from there to get a sound you want. Go nuts with modulation and or effects. Experiment.

edit: By the way, I've never tried it in my life. That's just what it sounds like to me. I'm 99% certain this will work as a starting point.

watch that.. he tells you what he uses, but doesn't give away his settings. however, if you search a few dubstep forums they'll tell you what settings to put into a synth and stuff!

Dam, from what year is this? old stuff is old. ;) (his gear)

The wobble bass can be easily searched on youtube. You can even find tuts for your daw and or specific "instrument/sampler". It's not going to be far off from what I posted earlier. It's all about taking that bass sound and syncing it to tempo with the lfo. Then you mod those bitches with what you think rocks.

In other words, you need to learn basic synthesis. (not implying you don't know)

Disclaimer: I sucks **** :kickass:

i haven't a clue about synthesis, i have tried looking into it..didn't get very far!

Here's a song my friend Jim wrote and produced and I helped mixing it and mastered it..

I don't know if that's dubstep, triphop, electronic, etc, but I find it pretty interesting. I hope you like it!
