So I always loved Reaper...

I think Adam is saying it's running off of the iPod. Which is pretty nuts,

Really cool capabilities for Reaper. I'd like to see it get bigger, personally. It's the first extremely inexpensive host to contend with the commercial shit that's been around. I still need to d/l the beta for OSX...

Do iiiit!

I'm running it on OSX, and the current version is pretty solid already. The first one I tried had some issues with graphics and some letters (äö mainly, and they're common in Finnish), otherwise I haven't really noticed anything, except DFHS's window gets fucked when you change the pages on it.

Antti, I know that you know that you shouldn't use scandinavian letters in anything related to computing ;)

I downloaded the OSX-beta a while ago and wasn't really pleased with it. I'm a logic-user and love the program, but I really hoped, that reaper would be another alternative to it. Unfortunately I found it very confusing and (sorry) butt-ugly :D

Maybe I need to give it a second chance. I like the idea of having a portable DAW with me ;)

There's a shedload of skins to choose from, or you can make one that pleases your eye yourself. :) But I guess you knew that already. :)

Yeah, truth is I never experienced the problem myself, but heard complaints about it so I decided to mention it. Would've been possible that I'd had a track like "säröbasso" or something, but I always name all the tracks in English so I didn't.

True, the suckiness of midi is one of the things that I really don't like in it, but that's not OS related.

Gonna try record a little something in Reaper to learn it... it really seems like a good program for someone like me who doesn't make money from music but still wants to move away from pirated crap (currently using Ableton Live, not so legally which I hate doing). 50$ for Reaper is like... nothing, given the fact that Reaper is a full and complete DAW.

I just need to get into it first, make a little song, do some midi too, mix and voila, I should know all the basics :) Then it's buy time!

That's what I did this summer, and I haven't looked back since! :)

I prefer the default skin to that honestly  I think it's nice and simple, doesn't hurt my eyes or anything.

I bought my Reaper in a group order, so I paid only €27 for it, and I think it's absolutely nothing for something that good.

Yes, of course I did know that and I also tried out the Logic-skin another user mentioned - but actually I feel with Reaper like I felt with Linux, when I thought, I have to check it out. Something just didn't feel right with it. You can make Linux look like OSX/Windows, too - but it stays a Linux-distribution.

I really dig the principle behind Reaper and I actually really like the look of the arrangement-window itself (the small "bar-markers" in the audio-graphics and other small cool things) - but on the other hand everything seems huge and space-consuming (the fader-graphics and the buttons for example). Another big drawback is the strange integration of MIDI, especially for programming drums (okay, okay - Logic's MIDI-integration isn't that great either).

Well, this is purely my own opinion and I would encourage everyone to check out reaper - it's just that is has all these small drawbacks, I don't like. ;)
