So I bought myself something today...

So I've never played guitar in my life, but after years of listening to metal, I've been hankering after one.

Today, I went to the local music shop and bought myself a little something...

I am incredibly hyped!

I was wondering if there are any guitar players amongst the regulars here (band aside, of course!), and if you guys have any tips on how I could self-teach myself so I could play some metal?

Take it slow and do basic acoustic stuff. If you get impatient start learning some punk rock but learn to play it like you mean it so that way you become accustomed to powerchords and the like. Other than that just continue to pace yourself and watch tons of videos on how to discipline your self.

I found 911tabs.com indispensable as well as having a copy of Guitar Pro on my computer.
