Recently I've been checking out bands that I have heard of before, but just never checked out for whatever reason. Also, with Spotify and emusic, I use the "related bands" feature to check out similar stuff.

I thought it would be interesting to have a thread for bands like this that you may have as well.

Some of mine recently are:

Throes of Dawn - Quicksilver Clouds, The Great Fleet of Echoes

Barren Earth - all of them, but really love The Devil's resolve

Shining - One, One, One turned me on with the new single for I Won't Forget - loving the earlier stuff as well.

Grand Magus - rawk! Melodic yet in your face and balls out, love it.

Alcest - great for chilling out to.

Katatonia - working my way back - good stuff as well.

I'm embarrassed to admit how long it took me before I actually listened to Bolt Thrower.

There are two on your list that I haven't heard of, but may check out... But it took me awhile to check out Teitanblood for some reason.

Finally checking out Bosse-de-Nage. Their sophomore release made a lot of year-end lists, but I put it off because I was digging the latest Tombs and Tephra records too much.

Gotta say, I'm really impressed. I love getting some decent post hardcore into my black metal.

I haven't heard any Carnivore :(

Just recently started listening to Brocas Helm ... fast and powerful heavyy metal, really digging it.

Never really listened to any Integrity, that song mort posted earlier was pretty cool.

edit:

Grand Magus is a band that I've been meaning to check out for the longest time as well but have yet to.

Grand Magus are fucking awesome, you will not be disappointed.

Throes of dawn are a good band. I have their first 2 albums. I remember when the first came out...I saw it in a record store (don't have many left...sad) and took a chance on it. Atmospheric, good musicianship, a little touch of gothic. Goes well with The Thomas Covenant books, playing in the background.

Yeah that's a fun album, blackened punky rocky whatever with NWOBHM kinda. Favorite song is You Can't Stop Steel good shit.

Listeing to that track right now ... this is some sweet stuff.

Also, was never really big on Marduk, but i checked out some of their stuff that you were posting and pretty much liked almost everyuthing i heard. I'm thinking about ordering an album or two, which ones should i go for? Out of all the ones i sampled on youtube, Opus Nocturne caught my ears the most, so that one i'm probably picking up.

The first six are all pretty great IMO. The band's first two albums are oldschool quasi blackened death metal, Opus is more traditional black metal and then from Heaven Shall Burn onto Panzer Division Marduk is the band's sound they're kind of known for I guess. I wouldn't call it blackened death metal necessarily but that's probably the best way to describe it. So if you think you like Opus go for it and maybe give it another listen or two before you decide. I seem to be enjoying PDM quite a bit recently myself.

If you like Satanic Royalty and havent heard Complete and Total Fucking Midnight, you should go out and get it. Both are good, but I like their older material a lot more.
