Probably playing too many gun games, but some friends play paintball and some e-friends play airsoft, and it seems really fun.

But does anyone know any good places to look for equipment, and tips ,etc?

I played paintball for awhile. It was a little fun, but since our field that we played on was unregulated (i.e. a bunch of us just went into the bush and shot each other) it kinda sucked. Who cheat, soup up the velocity of their guns, put their paintballs into the freezer so they'll just hurt like a bitch... etc.

Plus paintball stuff is friggin expensive. My kit ran me around $500 back in the day, plus paintballs, which, incidentally, are also quite expensive.

But hey, I'm sure it's a lot of fun if you're all playing by some rules.

Paintball is expensive and although I've never played it, seems like the kind of recreation that gets old after a couple tries. Then you're out several hundred dollars. Try renting some equipment first, then maybe buy some shit on ebay.
Looks like fun but I already have too many other expensive hobbies.
Good luck.

ive got a paintball gun and paintballs but havent fired a shot. i just dont have the time right now, or a place that wouldnt mind having yellow paint on everything

I did the paintball thing a couple times and I agree with dorian, rent some stuff first.

A bunch of my friends and I went up against some people who play in tournaments. Wow did we lose fast and hard. And getting hit straight in the throat by one of their souped-up guns wasn't much fun either.

I recommend that you rent some shit too, but if you do decide to buy a kit, I'll sell you mine because I used it only once. That is the irony.

okay cool thanks. I don't have a rental place here ,so I'm just going to borrow equipment, plus my brother has some stuff anyways.
even if I don't like competetive play, I might buy an airsoft sniper rifle to play with

what is an airsoft sniper rifle?

edit: might I recommend just drinking beer instead?

I'd go with airsoft, I've been playing for several years now. In Minnesota there is a large (maybe 400 people) airsoft community and I have been able to play in many large games. But anyway, to get started I recommend 3 things. A new AEG(Airsoft electric gun) made by Tokyo Marui (*1), a set of camouflage cloths, extra magazines for your gun(*2) and some kind of tactical vest for carrying said magazines(*3) Granted, its a bit more expensive that paintball, I think its a much more fun game.
