This is my first time on the "Latin American scene" and I was just wondering how many of you guys like Angra? I recently got their cd "Rebirth" and I think it's great! If there's anyone else that likes 'em, can you tell me a few other cool Latin metal bands?

angra rules.. i recommend you bands like Tuatha da Danann, Heaven Falls, season's holocaust....... and the list goes on

The only Metal from Latin America I've heard (Mexico notwithstanding) is Angra... which is pretty sad concidering I AM from Latin America... But still, Angra kicks ass, and I've only been listening to them very very recently... So I'll go look for more.

The only bands I know from latin america are Disgorge (Mex), Krisiun (Brazil) and All That I bleed (Puerto Rico) enjoy :headbang:

The majority of the metal bands from Latinamerica are
in Argentina and Brazil.
Then Colombia and Chile.

I have to say you are wrong.... In Chile there is an important scene, with very good bands.

I like Angra , Krisiun & old-Sepultura , Opeth( I know , this band are Swedish based , but the Martins are from Uruguay) , Poema Arcanus , Puya(from Boriken).

Tuatha de Danann rules, you should all check them out. They are from Brazil, and play a celtic folk metal sound, it's really cool. Mixing mandolins and flutes in with the metal sound.

You have:

Krisiun and Rabaellium from Brazil

Lacrimae, Cenotaph from Mexico (Anarchus still exists?)

Rata Blanca from Argentina

Eternal from Colombia

Mortem and Hadez from Peru

Poema Arcanus, Undercroft, Totten Korps, Sheolgenna, Necrosis, Masakre, Six Magick, Dorso & Criminal from Chile.

www.rockaxis.com from this portal you can Download a lot of songs from a lot of Chilean bands, and I know a lot of Chilean bands cause I'm from Chile.... and by the way Mortem from Peru and Poema Arcanus from Chile are amongst the best I know around Latin America.

And you should not forget from CHILE the thrash band PENTAGRAM.

And there's the technical death/jazz metal band COPROFAGO:

And from BRAZIL there was a death metal band playing DEATH style technical metal but I don't know if they are still around. The band's name is STRANGULATION and the ablum title "Between Nothing And Eternity".

The scene was quite big in the 80s in Brazil with: RATOS DE PORAO, OVERDOSE, WITCHHAMMER, CHAKAL, DORSAL ATLANTICA, SARCOFAGO, etc...

Joder, pedazo de grupo
I've just downloaded some mp3 in their website. Excellent, not at jazzy as I expected, but what a fucking huge sound. Looks like a mix between Cynic and Meshuggah. It's a shame that this band is not better known. I hope time gets them justice.

Anyway, I also would like to ask anyone who read this about JESUS MARTYR, what happened to that band? I don't know anything since "Sudamerican Porno"

I think there are a lot of good South American bands but labels seem only interested in the Scandinavian scene and the American scene, sealing a lot bands that sound equal to each other...
The brutal death metal from Mexico and Colombia is also the sickest, no doubt.
And ANIMAL is another favorite of mine

Bueno no pretendía enrollarme tanto. Un saludo a los jevis latinos.

great brazilian bands..

angra, Shaman, Viper, Symbols, Dr.Sin( this is the one I like most), Sepultura, Thothen, Hangar.. is what I ould remember...
I know the guys from Dragonheart, thery're from my city :)
