Strangest thing...and it sounds horrible standalone but based on the positioning of the cab it can provide some good ambience. In this case we placed it about 5 feet in front of the set and when we mixed the signal it gave us this really thick bottom end.

Anyone ever try anything remotely similar to this.

I've heard of using an NS10 or something similar in front of a kick, (similar to a sub-kick) but never a cab.

Samples?

I can't imagine ever doing this, but now I have to try it just for the fun of it. What did you use for cabling? Just a speaker cable plugged from the cab to line in?

I think the new Kreator album was recorded live using an inverted surround sound kinda speaker system to record the band all together in one room.

Unfortunately, no I cant get any of the clips because I just started this "apprenticeship" at the studio so I dont get to use the computer enough to be able to bounce out clips. As of right now, I'm the main engineers little helper lol. He lets me do my own thing once in a while but not as much as I'd like to. In about a month or so I'll have a whole studio at my disposable so I'll be experimenting with a bunch of different stuff for sure.

And as far as cabling goes, I'm pretty sure it was just standard speaker cable.

You can check out the studio if ya want (not an advert., only if youre interested)

Roy Z used a ns10 for the kick in the sessions of the André Matos' solo album.
