Social Anxiety

im in sales, so i have to talk to people, but when they leave, my fake smile and courteous words changed to a frown and cussing. i really do loathe people. when i go to social gatherings i often want to fight some dude just because i automatically hate him.

I called it the "bullshit switch" on the floor smiles and grins and happiness and customer pleasing. In theback i'm swearing and yelling and bitching and stabbing knives into shit pretending its the customers face. then i'm back out on the floor all smiles.

Remember.. don't fuck with your produce guy, he can do nasty shit to your produce.

I didn't have any friends for the first 20 years of my life. Always told myself I didn't need anyone and was happy that way so I didn't have to face the fact that I was lonely, that I was unhappy, and that I did need someone. Things have changed drastically over the past few years. So today, I have a big circle of friends (none of the superficial kind), half of them here, the other half scattered across the globe, and I'm much happier. I'd never want to go back.

Whether you admit it or not, you do need at least a few good friends around you. Humans are social beings, we're not designed to spend our lives all alone.

Seriously. Approach these books with an open mind, you'll not regret it. I read them just because I was curious, not because I felt my life was particularly terrible (though I must admit that the first couple of months at university were pretty difficult - I didn't know a single soul there, all my friends either took a year off or started studying at other schools/unis). However, these books made me become more positive, relaxed and self confident (the audio CD that comes with "Instant Confidence" is especially effectful - it kind of puts you in a relaxed, trancelike state). Take your time with these two little gems, and I can assure you that you'll feel much more confident and at peace with yourself.

Sorry for being a cynical dick, but

If you're pumping gas at the station say hello to the neighbor next to you. Whats the worse that can happen? Being "snubbed"? You never know when a simple "hey how's it going" can lead to something.

Half the people I know as "friends", I wish I had never met.

You're a fucking terrible christian

Just go with the flow. You'll know if somone will actually be a friend within 10-20 min. of meeting them. Knowing a dude will be a good friend is like knowing a chick would be a rad girlfriend, you just know.

Well, I can't relate to anything in this thread whatsoever, but...

...not trolling, but really, how on earth did you ever come up with the idea of wanting to be a teacher, baseball coach, or fireman? It's like someone not able to swim wanting to become a lifeguard.

Why do you need people to be happy?

Whether you admit it or not, you do need at least a few good friends around you. Humans are social beings, we're not designed to spend our lives all alone.
Human in his common state that is. Have you ever questionned this?

Cause it's hella nice to have people to do shit with. Because talking to yourself is pretty shitty, because it can be so invigorating to have a discussion with somebody. because after a while masturbating gets boring?

Haven't we all? Look at monkeys, we're monkeys iwth thumbs and education, so.... monkeys bond together for protection, safety and care. We don't need all of that, but we still, in the end, genetically require some sort of human interaction. Sure, some people are genetic malfunctions and don't, but the great majority of the species does.

I've done the "i don't need anyone" thing myself, and I can safely say, I'm much happier with people. So don't even bother trying to talk me out of it.

Stop smoking weed. No, seriously. It makes you want to stay in + can make you unnecessarily nervous in unknown social situations

I found that when I got stoned and started thinking about my trip to Europe, I would get really nervous about it even though I knew I was normally excited. Turns out, when I got there I smoked and everything was cool. So, you're right, but I guess I don't have a point to make?
