Social Networks; The Realm of Vacuous Mingling

Same here. Thanks to Facebook communications, family game/skit nights have taken place that might not have happened otherwise!

I personally love the way Facebook keeps you in touch with folks, since I absolutely HATE calling people on the phone and never do that. Without FB I'd have no idea what any of my friends or relatives were up to.

that's assuming they also use it on a regular basis. I would say 70% of the people on my list are basically signed up but never really use it or do so very rarely.

those are my normal friends.

Come on, man. It's been almost a year since I deleted mine.

I made a fake one the other day so I could check out some chick, but still

I'll be 26 soon and its gonna feel mighty old :(

This new APP is the devil

http://mashable.com/2011/06/17/friendthem-iphone/

Whether you meet someone at a bar, in the park or at a conference, friending that person on Facebook or following them on Twitter or Foursquare is now a common social norm.

I HATE THIS STUFF ... have some people on FB that I know that literally ask for someone's Freind Request minutes after they met them. Even if they will never see them again. Fucking 1000+ "friends". Is this some sort of insecurity based shit or competition on popularity? Laughable.

And now this app!

Now, that's just frightening. Not everyone needs to have random strangers know when they're taking a dump. Those that do, well, that's not my problem, and I'll be richer for not having that kind of knowledge.

If a users hasn’t shared their photos with non-friends, or updated their location recently, tracking that person down can be difficult

oh noes!
