This band and these records have meant so goddamn much to me in my lifetime that it is hard for some people to even take me seriously. Much like a book that touches you early on, the early Anthrax records kept me out of a lot of trouble and were an escape from quite a bit of household pain as a young boy.
When I got the "Among The Living" tape years ago, there was this very distinct smell--esentially the smell of new plastic--inside the cassette holder and the liner notes. I always thought that the smell was what the Anthrax "studios" or some other very distinct "Anthrax" place smelled like; this smell kept me going during some very troubling times. It reminded me that there were still good, imaginative places to visit and that one day I too would be out there, in the world, doing something important.
Just a thought.
