From yours truly. Hit the stage and belted out "Follow the Hollow" with the guys. Good times.

Few pics follow.. more when I get them sent in.

Check it.

Place is actually kind of big. But, its a venue in the US, and, they played there... so I guess "yes" is the answer? I dont know what you mean though. Too small?

Ohh ok. Lights come from the front. As it was, I couldnt see shit cuz they were all in my eyes.

Yeah, no backdrop... just black curtains.

Its a very new place.. not too bad.

J

Hahah. Man, old friends of mine... we were drinking and I said something to the effect of "I wanna jump on stage" and Speed was like "cool, you got 'Follow the Hollow'."

So, then when they played it, I went up... it was pretty funny/cool.

I just saw them Tuesday at the White Rabbit (San Antonio). Brett, if you want to see how we treat incredible metal bands like Soilwork, Opeth, et cetera in San Antonio, check that place out - a good night for the venue is when the lights *and* air conditioning stay working 75% of the night.

Side note - were you also completely blown away by Threat Signal? Had never heard of the guys before that, but after their set I went right outside and got a CD to get signed (by the way, the vocalist for that band is an awesome guy and he SHOULD be doing the kind of vocal tutorials we keep posting about). I thought Darkest Hour was a bit indistinguishable, and Mnemic was pretty cool (actually met the new vocalist when he was sitting near the front gate and I, being unoccupied enough to be able to just wait outside for three and a half hours before gates opened, had a chance to talk to him about the new album), but Threat Signal just blew me away. Anyone on the board heard these guys?

Jeff

I was at the Rabbit... guess you didnt see me... lol. We went to the Greek place across the street.

I thought the venue was terrible honestly... lmao.

Signal was good... cool guys.

I might have seen you somewhere but I can't recognize faces at all. I was wearing my new Soilwork T-shirt and torn jeans, shoulder-length curly brown hair tied back with a paperclip, in the show there was never more than one person between me and the stage... don't know if that narrows it down.

And I can tell that Houston showed a little more love to the bands with a venue that isn't falling apart, so I'm hoping that Soilwork won't just drop our venue and make me drive out to Houston next time they come by because that would totally fuck up my day.

Jeff

Cool shit, man
The chick in the pink hair in pic #1 rox!!!

I see Brett's point; the venue looks a kinda small - the left wall looks about 60 feet from the stage front.
Probably it's the pic's angle, and the room is non-square and spreads out on the other side.

If not, it musta been LOUD!!!

Who's playing guitar with them now anyway? I love this band and I hope they find somebody who fills Peter Wichers' giant shoes adequately. I'm very much looking forward to their next album, in any case.

From what I understand, no one, which doesn't make sense to me. Soilwork with one guitar doesn't quite sit well with me.

Don't get me wrong, Ola Frenning is fucking badass, but I agree with you 100%. Makes less sense than Iron Maiden with 3 guitars.

er... some guy "David"... I forgot his last name. Hell of a guitar player... he did his parts point on... had correct pitch on his bends and what not. Nice guy... good player, also.

He's filling in.. not a permanent member at this point. They said they had a lot of stuff written for the next album though, and Bjorn says it still sounds "like Soilwork". I really hope so. Killer band, good guys.

J

Woah a Strat! Haven't seen an actual Strat in an extreme metal setting since Adam D. or James Murphy. Cool!

Awesome that they've found someone to fill in - Soilwork would be rather ass with one guitarist.

He does play Strats - surprised all fuck out of me because he still has a single-coil-sized pickup in the bridge and he sounded killer. Only one of them was using a Krank, though... *hint hint*...

He nailed everything at the show, and I was watching for that too. Wouldn't surprise me if he did become permanent.
