Soilwork video.

Yeah checked out that video, all I can say is that its good and has a modern sound to it.Its sort of on the commercial side, but in a good way. Unlike numerous of these goofy nu-metal bands, this band actually has talent. This band seems like the type of group that does not have to make sacrifices in order to appeal to the masses, and I respect that in a band thats from the underground. It would definitly be great to see this band succeed.

but I liked Friden's higher pitched (black metal type) vocals on Subterranean better.

...That's because it wasn't Friden... it was Henke Forss that sung on subterranean.

As long as they kept their style...

Too late.

Listen to Demon In Vains, and then listen to A predator's portrait or Structure Divine... pay particularily close attention to to the first riff of Structure Divine, and tell me that they are not going nu-metal... where have we heard that riff before eh? Think about it.

When I first listened to the new Soilwork I really liked it. Then I listened again, and again. Boy, did that polish wear off fast.

Their new disc is very mainstream, and very "nu". But inspite of all that, I still find myself listening to it now and then...

Well I have heard/seen only this video, one live video, and one song that I don't remember. I made my analysis from those. And your right about Friden, he sucks even worser with those new vocals... but I liked Friden's higher pitched (black metal type) vocals on Subterranean better. Still Soilworks live video was worse "growling" I've ever seen. If you kill a pig, it will make better noises before it dies, than soilwork in live.

ps. I'm not a In Flames fan, nor Soilwork... ;)

Of course how do you think Lord Worm did it? He had the voice recored at a pig farm!

Well of course is not the same, but they have a lot of melodies, a lot of intensity. They have great solos on the new album maybe not as acrobatic but actually far better in structure and sound. Well in short: if soilwork is going nu-metal as you suggest and every numetal band sounded like that i would be a nu-metal fan. I would be damn glad to see them make a lot of money because their stuff while similar on the cover is just way superior to anything nu-metal has to offer.

Yeah, that's a good way to put it I think.

Also, when things are well-produced and just more polished after being a band for a few more years, they tend to sound more commercial in that way. Like people not liking BWP because it's well-produced and they have a couple songs with choruses on it.

Soilwork has way more melody, better riffs and interesting drumming than any nu-metal I've ever heard. Plus they have solos (and they're actually good and not just wanky nothingness). Basically musical value in general. They're about as far from nu-metal as a regular sort of metal band can get.

Also: Does anyone have an alternate download link? This site is the slowest ever and now it seems to be passworded.
