A recording of this amp would be much appreciated as I may have the chance to buy a SLO copy soon :)
I guess it sounds similar to a Mesa (or the other way around rather) but I'd like to hear one nevertheless. Thanks in advance.

The new All That Remains and Killswitch Engage were done with SlO100's w/Warren Haynes mod, OD808, and Mesa oversized cab.

jepp, but the so called "warren haynes mod" is nothing but taking the bright-cap out of the circuit as done thousand times in thousands of marshalls since 40 years (done in 10 secs with a pair of pliers).
a shame to call that the "warren hayned mod" perhaps we should just call tuning down the guitar to "c" the In-Flames-Guitar-Mod?

;)

the clips in the Mix a/b and pop-rock-ballad-threads are done with a slo-clone (with a tad more gain though).

great amps!

I came across this (but buying a beast like that without having tried it seems a bit... Well you get the idea):

Sorry, not a very heavy example...

Nope. Sounds more like a good ole boosted JCM800.

Well thing is a guy builds custom amps and he can build a SLO100 that will cost me about 350-400 euro. He says he's build a few of those and it will be the cheapest and easiest to complete. I first asked about a 5150 but if that can sound as good as it does in Subcutane's song I'd be very happy with it.
In my country probably the best tube heads you can get are Hughes & Kettner, the cheapest one - ~1000euro

He orders whatever transformers he needs from some factory (he specifies the design of the transformer).
I think he knows what he is doing, here are a couple of amps he's build:

LSD-Studio, could you by any chance record a short clip of the SLO clone with no processing?

Yeah I started a Slo-clone 100 project last year, You can actually build a SLO for alot less than they cost in the stores, and while you are building it you can mod as you please. They usually end up sounding better than the real ones IMO.

One of these days I'll have mine done, and I'll post some clips up here. Give me about another year, I do about one wire a day lol.

sure.

here's the original files i used for the first mic position tests.
these are just one sm57 straight on axis middle of speaker.
so it's not the perpekt position or anything, but i think it's easiest to translate to other amps like that.
amp was setup something like:
gain 2:00-3:00
Bass: 11:00
mid:9:00
treb: 11:00

definitely not the best sounding setting, but it's the first i used, before i tweaked mic-positions etc.

here are 2 tracks with a bolt on robin, swamp ash body, emg 85:
http://lsd-tonstudio.de/sounds/PR-1%20Robin 100%.mp3
(100%L/R)

here's another one with a neck-thru ESP, alder body with an EMG 81 :
http://lsd-tonstudio.de/sounds/PR-1 ESP 80%.mp3
(80%L/R)

both files are not edited or anything, so you could just combine them to 4-tracked.

so again, definitely not the best position/setting, but should be easier to judge like that, cause anybody can just put an 57 straight on the middle of a v30.

sorry for my spelling, I'm drunk as fuck!

here's another Track (thanks MKS) reamped with that amp... no processing, but lots of hum etc due to quick rehearsalroom reamping with ground loop etc....
again, just a 57 straight on in the middle of a speaker (a v60 this time):

Wow, a huge thanks to all of you especially LSD for taking the time to post those clips. The amp sounds even greater than I expected in a dry recording :headbang: :headbang:

I guess it's worth every cent, I'll talk with the guy and hopefully after a couple of months I'll own a SLO. :)
