Here's a clip of one of the IMO most underrated tube preamps ever...at the same time it might be my favourite guitar preamp, really loving this beast (the USA version as well as the MIJ).

It's got that typical sweet Soldano mid range texture, so rich and juicy, makes me fall in love over and over again every time I try a Soldano product.

Anyways, here's a clip to show you how it sounds in a metal context.
the marked settings are the settings I used for the rhythm guitars in this clip (actually the gain was a tiny bit lower than the mark), for the Solo I raised the gain to about 7 and the mids to about 5.

Chain:
Gibson Flying V
Duncan SH-6 (Rhythm)
Ibanez RG550 with diMarzio (Solo)
Maxon od808 (drive off, level at noon, just as a clean/mid boost)
SP-77
Mesa Fifty/Fifty
Mesa Stiletto 4x12
single SM57
BAE 1073
Apogee AD-16X

As always there's no post EQ on the guitars of course (just some delay on the solo).

Enjoy this clip and then hunt down one of these beautiful beasts on eBay ;)

Always tempted to grab it when I see one popping in classified ads every now and then. Bought an AMT S2 in the meantime lol.
