Maybe there's a 'Murican here that can record one for you..

Does anyone have any helpful advice that I could use to download a decent sample library? Also when i said "I See Some Around But Don't Have The Time To Listen and Analyze Which Ones Are Better Than Others" I mean well recorded, not better sounding guns/explosions.

The best thing I can think is sounds ripped from video games. I love Counter Strike Source gun sounds because they are bass heavy.

I found the sounds with a quick google search, and explosions included.

Thanks, this is exactly the kind of this im after. Are these samples legit to use or are they copy written material? Maybe a dumb question but i've never download weapon sounds before. lol

I don't know but I wouldn't care. I've asked that question to artists that used ripped sounds from movies or games and they never had a problem. I would think you'd have to be more careful if your work goes in a mayor label (or mayor films), but then I remember that Sturgis said that he steals effects from others from time to time.

Technically it would be illegal because the game developer owns everything in the game. Reverse engineering games is technically illegal too. Saying that, as long as you don't knock on Counter Strike developers door, walk in and say "Listen, I used your samples on this!", who the hell is going to know or care? Haha. The idea of using these sort of samples is to blend it underneath the track to the point where your average listener doesn't even know it's there anyway. If you were to use the sounds in your own game or mod then you would have a problem but for this, nah.

Is there not a decent free legal to use sample pack that anyone knows of?

Dude, you already said you see some around, just that you don't have time to listen to them.. doesn't it waste more time waiting and writing on a forum?
No one, but you, knows what sound you're after anyway..

Look here:
http://soundbible.com/tags-gun.html

Examples that are public domain = do whatever you want with them:
http://soundbible.com/1788-Sniper-Rifle.html
http://soundbible.com/1613-Gun-Loaded-Cocked-And-Shot.html
http://soundbible.com/1785-Skorpion.html

I'm sure there's more public domain ones if you don't want to get samples that you have to credit the creator. If you have no problem with crediting, then there's a metric fuckton of samples online..

My studio is remote location and is offline. So im forced to download sample packs and transfer them to there. As far as the quality of the samples goes I was referring the the recorded quality and not some hack making samples in his backyard with an iPhone and shotgun. I appreciate the help but at the same time responses like this to peoples questions are really unnecessary. Is this forum no longer about helping each other? If someone has a problem with there DAW or equipment and they ask for advice on here, should we all just say "Don't be lazy go google it?" No. We are to help each other out. So Sorry to bother you with my question.

This is an exact quote "I See Some Around But Don't Have The Time To Listen and Analyze Which Ones Are Better Than Others.".
How can you have the time to listen to what people suggest?
No one knows what sound you're after, only you do.
I'm actually trying to help you.

Can you help me find a free snare sample pack? I see some around but I don't have time to listen to them.
How does that come off to you? Sounds odd, doesn't it.
And since I can only conclude that you thought the paged I linked you to only had sounds from "some hack making samples in his backyard with an iPhone and shotgun.", I think you should go to a mindreader that can get it right the first time.

If you see sample packs, as you said, get them and listen to the sounds at a friends house, your house, the local library, internet café.
Here's a free pack http://sweetsoundeffects.com/gun-pack-2/
It seems there are more from the same person.
Are you expecting royalty free public domain recorded in 7.1 Dolby Surround Sound for free?

I wasn't referring to the sounds you linked as poorly recorded, i was saying the when i said "solid" samples i wasnt reffering to tone or type i was referring to the tracking quality.
I take snare sounds very seriously and other samples as well, gun shots and explosions i do not. I simply thought there might be a common go to pack that people around here use for effect/impact. In the future i will be very careful what i ask for around here, you actually did help with the links you sent me, I appreciate that, what i don't understand is why a simple here are some links post would have been more than enough, but yet you try to make people look bad or something for asking a simple question. If you didnt draw your own conclusions you wouldn't have thought i was being "lazy". I didn't ask for your thoughts on anything, I asked if anyone knew where to get a freeware copy of some sound effects that were decently tracked. Geez.

Paging Loren Littlejohn And TheWinterSnow. Plz Bring Your AR-15s.

Don't answer to him guys, he prolly wants to put you on a FEMA camp, and tax you to death ;)

Seriously though, OP forget about free stuff (freesound or the like) if what you are looking for is proper samples. Check foley related to weapons, war, etc. Hollywood Edge/Sounds Ideas has a great selection for instance, and you can download individual effects from them as well.

Alas a HDD of mine decided to quit with my foley  and so I'll be waiting to hear from the recovery data center I took the drive to this week, or else maybe I'd be able to suggest something more specific.

Sound Ideas is like the to-go for cartoon effects, radio and shit. They might not be free but they are dirt cheap.

There is 31" of snow on the ground right now and it's been averaging in the negatives with the windchill so your SOL if you think I'm gonna go capture a gunshot sample.

Best I can do is rack a round for you in my studio.

The other thing: Gunshots are usually doctored up to sound better in games/movies. Suppressors for example sound nothing like in the movies (that's why the term silencer is fucking stupid). Just watch a few youtube videos, gunshots are not as impressive IRL as they are in movies.

Anyhoo...

For games like Fallout 3 and New Vegas people have made gun sound mods I'm sure you could use some sounds from and just credit the author or whatever in the release. They aren't part of the game's assets technically. Check Fallout Nexus.
