Texas doom legends SOLITUDE AETURNUS, San Diego female-fronted metallers BENEDICTUM & Belgium's up-and-coming death/doom metallers THURISAZ have been confirmed for CHICAGO POWERFEST 2007. The 5th annual metal festival will take place on Friday, April 20th and Saturday, April 21st at The Pearl Room in Mokena, IL.

Solitude Aeturnus will be playing in support of their critically acclaimed new album, "Alone", and this will be their first Midwest US performance in almost three years. Benedictum, who are recently coming off their European tour with DORO, will be playing in support of their latest album "Uncreation", and this will be their first ever Midwest performance. Thurisaz, who are recently coming off their European tour with Novembers Doom & Agalloch, will be making their US debut & also be playing in support of their upcoming new album "Circadian Rhythm", released in March. Co-Promoter & Twelfth Gate bassist Rob Such also adds, "While on my recent trip to Europe with friends Novembers Doom, I was able to watch openers Thurisaz kick ass every night...and I really felt that they deserved a chance to leave the same lasting impression on this year's Powerfest audience just as they did on me & the audiences throughout Europe."

Current Powerfest lineup:

SOLITUDE AETURNUS
MARTYR
NOVEMBERS DOOM
BENEDICTUM
SHATTER MESSIAH
THURISAZ

The remaining four bands, which also include both headliners, will be announced in the upcoming weeks as they become confirmed. Ticket information will also be made available once the line-up is complete.

Say hello to them from their European fans! \,,/
O my GOD!! Novembers Doom is also part of this line up. I have been playing their new album a lot these last few days!

It looks like a strong bill to me.

SA and Benedictum will be a good reason to go indeed.

NP: Pariah - 'Inhumane'

WOO HOO!!! I finally get to see Benedictum!!!:kickass:

Haha, yeah, say them Hello from Hawk and Carnut...They will go crazy if our names keep popping up allover the world

Seems like a cool bill there...even never heard of that Belgian band there :u-huh:

edit: after listening to some samples I don't care that much I never heard of them :p

I will definately mention Hawk and Carnut to them when I see them!:kickass:

I have a lot of "catching up" to do with these other bands since I basically know nothing from all of them... except Benedictum...:erk:

Too much music... too little time!

Hey guys, we want pictures and a full report. :)
Its going to be cool!

Shyeah! Goes without saying!

Hell yes my friend, I will pick you up at the airport if you are coming.:kickass: JD was supposed to come last year and I made him the same offer. You have my number, call me if ya need me!!!

Yup! I've got your number. I'll try and give you a holler tonight. I just checked flights on Frontier and it's $180 round trip. That's too damn cheap to pass up. Although it's Midway instead of O'Hare. But Denver and Chicago are United hubs so I'll bet they've got competitive fares. We'll get it all figured out but right now it looks like I'll be making the trip. :kickass:

For this year's fest, it is better to fly into Midway anyway, as it's closer to the venue (which is in Mokena). I'd only fly into O'Hare if you got some insanely good ticket price. Midway is nearly always cheaper, as well.

Cool! Thanks for the info. Midway it is!

I put it on the Powerfest board as well...

It's awesome that Solitude is playing as they are amazing. "Through The Darkest Hour" is probably in my top five-ten fave almbums of all time. But I can't see how they aren't closing out one of the nights. They definitely have the material to do so and they are tops on a lot of others people's wish lists as well. They really deserve at least 90 minutes, although if they aren't closing the show the most they probably will get is an hour.

Still, I'm glad to see them playing, considering it's only about 45 miles from where I live. I'll definitely be going.
