Hi Mendel which kind of RAM you need depends on the Chipset you are using!
If you don't know the Chipset i recommend a tool like sisoft sandra to find out what you have! Or you could take the Ram Chip to the PC Dealer and tell him you need more of this! ;)
Good Brands are Infineon, Kingston or Samsung! Don't go with cheap RAM!!!!

Hope this helps!

While an extra 512MB of RAM would be a great benefit for your computer, it won't solve your 100% cpu charge. For that you need a faster CPU, not extra RAM. Extra RAM will fasten the work with the samples and speed up the reading of the recorded audio tracks, because there will be less need for Windows to use pagefile (virtual memory), an extention to physical memory stored on your HDD.

If you don't have some of the latest boards for LGA socket Intels (in which case you shouldn't be that worried about your CPU power), you don't need DDR2.

Another thing, maybe it's a stupid thing to ask, but are you using the plugins correctly? I don't know how advanced you are in recording, but most beginners tend to put reverbs, delays and similar "space" effects as insert effects, which leads to using 10 or more reverbs. That means an instant "death" for the CPU, since they're among the most CPU power hungry plugins.

If not, post the manufacturer and model of your board, as well as the speed of your CPU, so we can recommend something specific.
