I am going to try and go. Funny how that is the last day/nite/hours of having my old apt..but by 7pm..before actually..I'll likely be cleaned out and fully moved. Hopefully it won't go too late as I work at 8:30. Paul, you're not coming in for this particular show are you?

Sonata kicked some serious @$$ last night. Made up for the garbage that was the Queensryche (?) tribute act. SOnata put up a better performance than Strato did. I hope they come this way again.

Peace,
Ray C.

Awesome night! Sonata was fantastic and the crowd was totally into it. Will have an interview with Jani up soon along with about 30 photos. Here a few:

Ran into soooo many people from this forum and various others. I was a little bummed out at first 'cause Dave couldn't go, but in the end, I had so many friends it didn't matter.

AMBR, we all enjoyed the session at Applebee's. I know I did.

Nope, but I'll be at the Atlanta show, with the other 30 fans we're expecting there. (If I keep beating down my expectations, maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised by the turnout. :))

Damn, do you think they'd cancel due to lack of ticket sales? If people only knew the power of SA!!

Just got back from the Worcester show. Palladium was pretty well packed. Shame the opening bands were pretty bad. 1st one was just out of place. Your basic 'core band that only knows how to play one song over and over. They got booed at the end of each song. 2nd one had a good guitarist but they didn't utilize him well. His few and far between "solos" were overpowered by the bassist (his bass was set way too high).
Sonata was awesome. Crowd was totally into it. A lot of them probably caught them at the NE Metal & Hardcore fest as I heard the crowd was blown away by them there. Considering they were one of the few non 'core bands, not at all surprised. Saw a few people wearing PP t-shirts too :)

I'd say more like f%&#ing stupid as hell... plus the misspell? Holy geez, how hard would it have been to take a casual glance over at the LOGO :loco:

Amazing as it may sound Pellaz, you may actually see my carcass at that show. Stranger things have happened.

The Masquerade website's description of Sonata Arctica is.......interesting.

Here tis:
"Sonata Artica, Dark Asylum, Devane
Sonata Arctica was born in 1996 on the edge of the world, in northern Finish town of Kemi. One of the most artistic bands in Nordic Metal, Sonata Artica combine the sound of Black and Death Metal with dueling synthesizers, adding a layer of depth unseen in Euro Metal." huh?

Black and Death metal? Sonata Arctica? :tickled::p:hypno:

BTW, the first line is a direct lift from the SA biography on their site.

I thought the Queensryche tribute Queen of the Ryche at BB Kings was pretty good and a solid warm up before Sonata hit the stage. I thought "I Don't Believe In Love", "Eyes of a Stranger", "Take Hold of the Flame", "Walk in the Shadows", and "Queen of the Reich" were all great. They got me really pumped up before seeing the great Sonata Arctica.

Agreed 100%. That vocalist has some fucking pipes!

Nevermind, I see the list for the Atlanta date.

Dark Asylum - http://www.myspace.com/enterthedarkasylum

Devane - http://www.myspace.com/devane

Dark Asylum sounds like shit to me. Don't like vocals like that too much. Probably will be bored in this one judging from the samples.

Devane actually doesn't sound that bad. Could be a good opener.

There's so many melodic bands in the Mareitta-Athens area, I'm not sure why they got Dark Asylum.

Oh well! Going for SA anyways!

Yeah, I would go to one of the shows that is closer but most of the shows are during the week. I am a high school teacher and I don't want to miss any days if possible (used one of my 2 personal days to go to Prog!!) We have President's day off which is the day after the Ft. L show. That's why I am making the trip down there. Looking forward to a great show!

Is it going to be the same opening bands all over the country?

Nope, when Into Eternity dropped off the bill, no national support act was added in their place. So each local promoter will choose. Swordz and I chose Cellador from Omaha (http://www.myspace.com/cellador; they also had a track on last year's ProgPower sampler) for the Minneapolis show.

10 more days until heaven!!! If the local promoters beg them, do you think they'd play White Pearl, Black Oceans in it's entirety??? I must see that played live!!!
