Of course not! How could that even be possible?ReDilS.kCalB said:Seriously the album is nothing like RIP
No - this is a one off. He started off with the whole Nordic epic viking thing, later becoming prog/astral/let's give Steve DiGirogio a paycheck, and then he has his side folk band called Otyg, which many consider to be a joke although I've never heard it, and then of course there is Borknagar.NAD said:Is Vintersorg normally boring melodic death? I've heard high praise for him/them/whatever in the past, but if that's a typical example I'll never bother.

Why he chose to do a melo-death album is beyond me. He should do a heavy metal album with all clean vocals. That's his strongest feature. I'll be the first in line for that.

Otyg predates the whole astral cosmic pi math metal thing... Actually the reason that he isn't with Otyg anymore was because he lost interest in the whole folk thing. Otyg may sound like a joke for those to whom it sounds all exotic and strange, to me (and other Swedes) it sounds like folk music blended with metal. Big deal.JayKeeley said:No - this is a one off. I could not agree more. I thought this the first time I heard Empiricism anyway. Epic is a slight step down, however.Opeth17 said:I'd take Empiricism over both The Archaic Course and Quintessence anyday.
He's certainly in my top 3.Vintersorg's clean vocals>everyone elses clean vocals.
Yup. Will I like Otyg?Erik said:Otyg may sound like a joke for those to whom it sounds all exotic and strange, to me (and other Swedes) it sounds like folk music blended with metal.
