Yup. Will I like Otyg?

I think you probably would. I don't know if you've heard Till Fjalls or Hedniskhjartad, but if you liked either of those you'd probably like Otyg. As spaffe said, you'd probably be missing out on parts of it if you can't speak swedish, but I still enjoy it. Same with Asmegin, the story is lost on me, but the music still rules.

Otyg is grab your beer mug and swing it through the air music, so if you ever get into one of those moods, Alvefard is a good album to have.

Sold. That sounds like what Finntroll does to me, I get a (larger than normal) craving for mead when I listen to them.

well i think erik said that, though i may have mentioned it earlier, but i'd just like to add that for me the lyrics is about 40% of the enjoyment in otyg since it's almost exclusivly stuff that i have an interest in. but the remaining 60% of music (yeah yeah, music + lyrics = a song) is pretty unique, at least to my ears, they've not simply just thrown in some violin there or some horn or whatever there, it all oozes with folky feeling down to the last riff and drumbeat. one of the best groups evar

as for asmegin, i as a swede is pretty clueless there as well, since it's partly written in some old/medival form of norweigan :loco:
great stuff anyway

Ufomammut - Hopscotch

This song right here sends me back to when I first started listening to heavy music, something no group has done for several years, if ever. I feel like I'm fucking 15 discovering this whole new world all over again. GOD DAMN YEAH!!!!!1111seventhousand

(Meh, this was the best thread I could find to post in)

This is one awesome folk song everyone with the slightest interest in the genre needs to hear. It's by a norweigan band called Folque which I know very little of. Oh, and it's not metal whatsoever, pure folk music.

Yeah he raped my ears a few times as well. In the truest sense of the word, as in it sucked total fucking ass.

Can't stand the dude's voice.

Song of the day:

Bergthron - 3rd track on Faust Fur Faust, especially around the 11 minute mark with the female vocals. Wow.

Vintersorg was good until Cosmic Genesis

You don't like Cosmic Genesis at all? It's a really interesting album, a very obvious musical bridge between the "folk" era and the "cosmic math metal" era. A good blend of both.

Yes I agree, it's very good all the way through (allthough the Uriah Heep cover was pretty redudant, but bearable), with Ars Memorativa being my personal favourite. And on a side note; VFtSG was not bad in any way, only I'm not in the mood for it very often.

I didn't say I don't like it at all, it has its moments but the earlier ones (I haven't heard ödemarkens Son though, jsut guessing there) are far above and beyond it. It's simple really, the earlier stuff related to what once was and our majestic landscapes, the later ones are all spacey cosmic techno crap and I personally can only relate to and like the first.

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean. You gotta hear Odemarkens Son.. it's like Till Fjalls (only more lush and "epic") and the production is identical to it.
