I'm just wondering how you guys actually write your songs. Something in particular fucks me up about alexi's song writing. I mean , his actual ''plan''... I've noticed every band has his own plan. Exemples : Intro-MainRiff-Verse-PreChorus-Chorus--MainRiff-Verse-Interlude-Solo-Chorus-Outro
OR
INTRO - VERSE - MINI CHORUS - VERSE- CHORUS - INTERLUDE - VERSE(VARIATION) - SOLO - CHORUS/OUTRO

there is a lot more but still, i'm just wondering what alexi does. I've been analysing his new songs, especially Lobodomy, I think it's going like this , correct me if im wrong : VERSE - PRECHORUS - VERSE - PRECHORUS - CHORUS - VERSE - INTERLUDE - SOLOS - VERSE - PRECHORUS - CHORUS/OUTRO

Anyways, i'm not pretty sure about all that stuff , when I compose , i usually use the first exemple but there's a lot more. Thanks for sharing ideas and sry for my bad english:rock:

I usually "hear" what the next part is going to sound like, when i write my songs. This does that the songs don't always have a good structure, and that's why it doesn't always sound that good either

i suck at song structuring :(

Because like you inhe, i too "hear" what the next part is gonna be

and this adds up to 10 minute of linear music

I should break them down and structure them around sometime..

Yeah, it's a bitch. But i guess the only thing to do is just keep writing stuff until you get better.

song structures are gay and overrated

but do not be a prog fag

I don't fellow any structure at all.

Thinking of it there's even no "chorus" or "verse" or whatever, just riffs; they come in order that I want them to be. I write the music, I record it and then I write the lyrics, I don't plan any specific part before. But that's a way to do, some may say that this way you are lost and it gives bad result... I don't really see why or how... To do that keep the "surprise effect" in a song. Anyway...

True.

There is no correct way to write a song, write whatever you think sounds good or whatever structure.

Agreed.

I don't fellow any structure at all.

Same here. I don't plan. I compose one riff, the look for one that fits next, then halfway the song unually I set the solo spot, but if after 30 secs there's a kewl riff to solo over, then I don't think about it twice and I play a solo there. Other times I repeat some riffs and I end up with songs like one I have that is 3 min long and has 4 solos. They are really short and keep popping up during it, any of them is stick to other in an Angel Of Death-ish way. I don't like planning which parts the song is going to have before actually writing it.

no it goes - Intro verse chorus verse solo chorus verse outro
I don't think he uses that kind of song structure because the intro comes back quite a few time in Lobodomy. Also, the verse would be two non-related riffs so I think you're wrong, but I might be the one that's wrong too:lol:

For the song writing thingy, it's not really necessary to know the actual plan. I guess some of you guys don't use it and fit some riffs and it sounds good unless it's not intro , verse , chorus , verse , chorus all the time. You just have to know the basics i guess like.. you need a interlude(bridge) before solo's, outro , intro and shits.

How you guys write your songs? I use guitar pro to write them, it's a good program, I don't think there's much ppl in here writing it in G CHART on a paper:lol:so you guys might have your own ways

yeah guitarpro is great. I always compose in either guitarpro or record directly to my Cubase when I have ideas.

I usually don't think of song structures as verse, brige, etc..

I usually refer to them as Riff A, Riff B etc...

If I had to choose my prefered formula I would go:

A B C A B C D E D E

This way you get 3 riffs in a row so the listener won't get tired of the riffs that fast. After you're finished with those three riffs you repeat them in the same order, then move on to part two (the D and E riffs). Repeat those and end the song.

A song which use this structure (with a few modifications) is Tie my rope:

Riff A: 00:00

Riff B: 00:31

Riff C: 00:52

---Repeat everyting above---

Riff D: 01:51 (prelude to chorus)

Riff E: 02:06 (chorus)

Then theres riff A first in a different key - then normal key, pre-solo, solo <---- This part doesn'f follow my "formula" but everything else does

Riff D

Riff E

The end

Hope you got something out of this. I wrote this because I'm bored not because I'm a geek
